Recently there's been a few things happening around me (both furry-related and irl) that have caused me to question what sort of person I want to be. This... Sounds a little like some form of existential crisis, but it's not really all that bad. I've just become aware lately that I'm somewhat emotionally immature and place too big an emphasis on the sexual side of the furry fandom. Please note I'm not judging anyone here, but I just feel like I need to try and mature and move away from that side of things.

Obviously I enjoy a good ol' bit of yiffage just as much as the next guy and will always enjoy seeing sexy females... but I no longer want that to be the main focus of artwork I commission or rp's I participate in. Rather, any sexual stuff with Alva would need context, a legitimate story-related reason rather than just "You're hot, let's yiff", and I plan to get more sfw artwork of him. Of course, I'm not saying he'll never get any lewd artwork or rp, there's some females I just can't resist, but it's more that I want to focus more on him as a 3-dimensional character with a life and a backstory. If anything, it would be my collie girls that are more likely to get nsfw art.

So, what's brought about this sudden realisation? Lots of things, but a major influence has been an awesome group of people I rp with - people I'm honoured to call my friends. Having a resident Decency Officer helps, plus Hikari and Keth are very knowledgeable when it comes to the fascinating subject of kitsune lore. Truly an inspiration, if not a good influence xD

So without further ado, here's Alva's backstory:

A fairly young forest kitsune, Alva is still finding his way in the world, relying mainly on his silver-tongued charm and nimble fingers to acquire whatever he needs. He is a wanderer with no fixed abode, remaining in one place only for as long as it holds his interests - or until he has to flee with a price on his head. The young todfox is a compulsive thief, constantly plotting and scheming ever more elaborate heists, but has little interest in the money itself once it is in his hands. He is also an irrepressible flirt and a womaniser, displaying an impressive ability to charm most females into compromising encounters... regardless of their martial status.

Despite this outwardly irresponsible air as a scoundrel and a rogue, however, Alva does have a dubious sense of honour. The son of one of the 12 Morvannec Lords far to the North, he would have a legitimate claim to the throne of Morvan had he not fled from his responsibilities at an early age, forsaking his family, his title and his inheritance in favour of a life unfettered by diplomacy and official duties. As a result, he was not present during the destruction of the kingdom of Morvan at the hands of the great Ice, something which he refuses to discuss due to his guilt and shame. Now nothing but rubble remains of that great kingdom, the barest shadow of its former glory, and none are left to remember it save himself… as far as he knows.
