What happens if you don't think about what it's going to be, and just start drawing? Sketch an outline of a snout or ears, or just eyes, with no plan, and that in turn will start to suggest possibilities. That's how I've done about 99% of my drawings.

Still, good suggestion and you have a really good point - some of my most interesting things are accidental...

It's only the first few lines that need to be unplanned, often all it takes is a random snout or eyes and then ideas start to come along. Or not!
