Gauges
A couple of weekends ago I took my car's gas gauge sender out to find it has had its float arm wrapped all around it. I wish I'd taken a picture but I think I was so flabbergasted the thought didn't even cross my mind. The fix for a non-functioning gauge seemed obvious.
Unbend-unbend-unbend.
Check it with my gas gauge. Push it up, reads full. Let it fall, reads empty!
Figuring I'd solved the issue I install it and drive the car for the next two weeks.
Friday morning, September 7th 8:50 AM, Southbound morning traffic at a stoplight. 3/4 of a tank showing on the gauge.

Well, I don't think it's reading correctly. CRAP!!
Limp the car to the curb abusing the starter. Turn on 4-ways
Grab the 2Gal can of gas I keep in the trunk JUST for this possibility. Add about a gallon. Put it back, close the trunk.
Get back inside and crank until gas gets to the carbs and off I go.

Been there,done that(too many times! )
My Chevy S-10 does that and I don't feel like dropping the tank or removing the truck bed... at least it's accurate on the over the half of gas range....
