Hum, they've gotten more math rock ish than I remember.
That was no music video there though, that was a music adventure, holy shit balls.

I think their last two albums (from 2014 and 2017, this song here being from the former) are far more interesting than their previous. Their music has definitely evolved and has some structural properties that make it stand out despite having like no keyboard stuff or other textural influences

Fuck I was thinking of Grizzly Bear because this video I guess reminded me of one of theirs. Still sort off used to think of mastodon as a heavy rock group, this is pretty different. It sounds like they're using some complex and "slash" chords (two different chords played at once) and weaving around them though, far cry from power chords.
Yeah it shows how much sound you can fill in with a guitar. I always think of electric guitars as a form of synth with a much more complex input device myself. It's definitely lush.

That was actually quite interesting, and a nice break from what a lot of music videos are these days. Glad to see the creativity!
