End of an Era

So it is no secret that my favorite food is Japanese food. In fact I’ve been going to the same restaurant for Japanese food for 11 years. The owner, chef, and I were on a first name basis and they greeted me by name whenever I went in. Sadly the owners are retiring after 35 years and the restaurant is changing hands. The owners were from Japan and I loved being able to get less, homey foods such as chawan mushi, donburi, and top quality sushi. Not to mention the curry was a home recipe and both my husband and myself are fiends for a good Japanese curry. (He was stationed in Yakota and definitely took advantage of Cocoichibanya).
Anyways I am pretty sad about this and mostly venting. We visited the restaurant last night for the last time before the change and I am way too emotional about a restaurant but I had so many milestones there like my bachelor’s degree party. Anyways remember to love and visit the wonderful little hole-in-the-wall restaurants around your town. You never know when you could lose a gem.
