Never had that problem... perhaps something is wrong with your copy/install ?

Yeah it is. Though it could also mean the disk drive is failing. THough that only happens with HDD drives that are older than 3 years.

A hdd can fail at any time really if it has a fault from the factory or it gets bumped if you ever move the computer.
If its the system hdd then the Cashe memory could get corruped as you work on the art, it wont matter where you save.
Also the memory could be faulty.

Try https://www.hdtune.com/ HDtune and do a error scan and dont use the "fast" option.

For the memory use the Windows Memory Diagnostic if you have windows 10

Scanned the main drive. No issues there. Going to scan the secondary tonight.

Hope you can find the problem.

Well, the secondary drive, the one I was sure was having problems, HDtunes says it's absolutely FINE. No damaged sectors anywhere. So now I'm, stumped.

And you did a memory scan?

This is a stand alone virus scanner

Dip a deep scan for viruses on both drives, took about 8 hours. Turned up nothing. Gonna hit it with the memory scan.

No Memory errors detected. Huh, maybe its time for a new rig.

ive had some computers having unexplained glitches a few times, i gave up and got a new motherboard, cpu and ram.
AMD has some good mid tier cpus, the Ryzen 5 3600X for example.

I need to do some research. Last time I checked, an Intel based rig was the best option for art software (Animation and Illustration), but that was some years ago.

Now if you are looking for a mid range, entry or high end rig AMD has cheaper, faster and cooler running cpus.
AMD is even gaining market share in Servers and Supercomputers.

Yeah, I heard rumblings that Intel may be getting out of the consumer market. Don't know how much water that holds though. Maybe I can find some decent deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday to piece together a new rig. I just need the brains and nervous system (Motherboard, processor, ram), I might be able to score a second hand GPU for a good price.

I found out what happened by the way. It was explained in a single obscure post on reddit, done years ago. Apparently, at least for the version I had, having the canvas resolution over 4000x4000 causes this exact problem. That version of Sai just can't handle something of that magnitude and eventually starts corrupting the file.

So, lesson learned, 3000x3000 resolution it is. I just need some way to open two of the files that didn't corrupt so I can lower the resolution and salvage them.

They are never gonna quit selling computers, they still make a lot of money.
And Intel is working on cpus with similar design to AMD that could compete better.
But its gonna be 1 or 2 years for them to be for sale.

If its 32bit and the workfile + program goes above 4GB it could corrupt the file by being badly coded.
A good program would show some type of error message and close.

Then its nothing wrong with the computer really.

You could try to find a used Ryzen 7 2700X from someone who is upgrading for under 100$
And pick up a 256gb ssd for windows any cheap ssd, you will be happy about that upgrade.

Holy crap. That was an ordeal. Would've been nice if there was a warning in bold, red letters that specified that AM4 is NOT compatible with Windows 7. By the time me and my buddy realized this, everything was all hooked up and cable managed. Had to wait a few days before I could get a Win10 install. In the end, he had to put my HDD in his PC to upgrade Win7 for me. I'm just now getting things back together. LOL

Windows 7 is not getting security updates soon anyway, i think its a good time to upgrade.

I used to get that problem.

Save it on a different location hard drive. If you are saving in a Flash drive, External, Internal or the C drive,
choose a different location. If it works, then its the drive. It may be a Registry problem.

If it works on another drive, no errors etc, find the best Registry Repair program and scan and fix.

There might be one already in Windows 10 so search and repair.

If all else fails, reinstall SAI or get SAI 2 like me.

I use SAI 2 and no probs. If you have a license already, you can get SAI 2 for free. Just have to do the recovery license thing
and toss it in the SAI 2 folder.

yeah, I thought maybe it was the drive. So I started saving in different locations, I eventually moved everything to my main hard drive. At first, the one's in different locations worked. Then it happened again, regardless of the saved locations. I decided to lower the resolution down to 3000 Pixels, that seemed to work for now on one of my WIPs. The other I was working on is having the errors regardless of saved location and the update. :/

I wonder if it has to do with RAM memory or the Registry has errors.

I just removed sai, added it again and it worked.

Try SAI 2. I use it and its better than SAI 1. If you have brushes, you can use teh same ones but have to copy, paste them in the new folder.

Using SAI 2 right now ;3.

The only thing that i see useless is the magic wand tool. PS works better for that.

I reinstalled it a few times. No dice, but the weird thing is, the file on an external, seems to still work, but all the duplicates of that file on my pc don't. Then, the other I saved on the external is having issues again. I dunno. I've been using Sai forever. Its never done this before.

I just got SAI2. But now I'm wary of using it. I like Sai's ease of use, but I may just switch over to Clip Studio.
