So a family walks into a talent agency

They say to the agent, "we've got quite an act for you."
The agent says, "Really? What do you do?"
So the family got up and taxed him for living where he did, as the agent had no choice but to live upon land they had inherited. They worked under the order of the king, and in doing so continued to oppress the agent and his peers for their own wellbeing, lest they fall to the meager existence that most of the people of the land led.
They kept a close eye on the king, for with their status, there may come the time that the power of the royal family may wane, and when that time came, it would be one of their noble blood to gain the true power, if not the throne. The peasants, though hesitantly supportive of the family, knew in truth that the family were working out of their own interests - and either way, their own chances of climbing the ladder of society were slim to none.
"Well, that's quite an act you've got there," the agent said. "What do you call it?"
