Good day everyone! 2020 is almost there so I figure it was a good time as any to give a small status update on things here; from work currently underway to other projects and upcoming changes.
So, to start, upcoming changes:
Commissions Prices:
A major change I'm planning for 2020 is a pricelist update. I've made progress with my inked style which means I feel I'm starting to more reliably push works whose quality satisfy me, but it also means I'm becoming more aware of what can add to the time of production vs what kind of pieces are quicker to produces. Similarly I'm finally able to tackle painted works again thanks to currently unshared warmups, but also know what kind of push I'd need to perform to get the most out of it which might require adjustments again.
One of the bigger change will thus be less on the prices for individual "grade" of pictures(ink/color/painting), but specifically try and introduce more detailed pricing for background/complexity as well as format(simple portraits full characters or scenes) to better reflect what types of works are easier/quicker to produce versus what kind take me longer to make and for which I may have to charge more.
As such, currently queue commissions will not be affecting by this future pricing change but I may hold off temporarily from taking new commissions(bar exceptions) until the new pricing and pricesheet is ready.
Work Schedule:
The holidays have allowed me some freedom to have more leeways to truly "rest" during the weekends, as before the holidays my commissions/personal projects/office work schedules was leading me to basically unofficially work 7 days a week, which was running me ragged before the holidays. I'll thus have to make some hard choices in the coming week to figure what schedule might work best for me though it might mean some less time for commissions. Ultimately it also made me realize I need to find a way for the weekend to remain a weekend even if the placement(and sleep schedule my commute impose on me) of my office workshift in the week make it harder to manage commissions during weekday.
I have a loose idea of how I might adapt thing, but it's still a layer of uncertainty for me how much it will work out however. I do kind of hope I can manage something where even with less days to work on commissions I can still get more reliable amount of days during those days due to proper rest. It might also means more concerted effort regarding my sleep schedules so that office shifts don't feel like such a clash in my week, one of the thing I struggled with a lot in the past.
Now, current works:
I've recently completed a commissions(awaiting payment before I upload) and the illustration for a poll on my Patreon just yesterday. I still have about three separate commissions in the way, so it's my hope to finish a couple more before the week ends. Thus my current schedule is to try to make as much during monday to thursday(with likely a slower pace on the 31-1 of new year's eve/new year however) and to try to make progress on personal projects such as my comic I've begun to show the early progress of on my Patreon.
With this said, these are current plans for the week. The next one is also going to be much busy with dentist appointment at the very start of the week and return to the office at the end, so I don't know how much work I'll be able to get done then. If I have time at all, it'll likely be spent focusing on leftover commissions and/or preparing my pricelist for the upcoming year. With this said, I thank you all for the continued support of my work and send you my wishes for a pleasant end to 2019 and hopefully great 2020!
