actually, MS extended support for Win7 by another 3 years. Just saying.

yus, so companies can continue using it. but the way I know the MS userbase, they will most likely be compiling patches for the regular version as well. Of course that won't be sanctioned by MS, but when did that stop anyone from from doing their thing?

in due time, people will stop using the old stuff and move on to the new stuff. it's all just a matter of time

Companies often end up in a dead end because they often use hardware that is not being supported on new OS. Hence many hospitals still running Win95. It's all a cost and supply thing.

i mean sure but like they're trying to give us a nice surprise and yet people are throwing it back into their faces. it's just stupid.

Surprises in user-interface design are rarely a good idea so...kinda their own fault here

Honestly, I wouldn't advise continuing using windows 7 anymore unless if you have enterprise/ultimate edition because of the vulnerabilities. Speaking of which, the company I work for finally upgraded from Windows XP last year when XP was discontinued in 2014. You can still patch your own vulnerabilities, support unsupported programs & hardware, but it's a time-consuming workaround. I just know, however, a lot of software developers are still planning on supporting 7 in 2020.

It may be all over the place but hey it loads faster than the original version. Even when I have potato wifi.

To be fair, when windows 10 first launched people had a very real reason to not want to update, 8 was a shitshow and as it turned out to anyone who did upgrade to 10 it was even worse until they ironed out the kinks. Now? Yeah sure, 10's supposedly an overall better OS. As for the new FA while it's all nice and flashy having to re-adapt to a UI that you've been used to for 5 years is a pain in the ass, and I very quickly found they changed things that not only seemed to make things overly complicated but also made me have to try and overwrite muscle memory that's been around just as long on both the new and old theme. If ALL they did was update the look to what it is now that would be fine. But I can genuinely see why people are griping and I've not even bothered exploring the ins and outs of the new layout or changes that still effect the old after having found out how to change back.

Though for any of us that would prefer to use the old UI, just go to account management>account settings and under "Site Layout/Theme" there will be a dropdown that lets you choose between "Modern" and the now "Classic", just choose classic. If your tired of hearing it, spread that around and sooner or later people will make themselves happy and mostly shut up about it.
