well, you can plug in an ethernet cable to the machine and in a few seconds, windows should resolve and give you internet access. Otherwise, in the lower right of the screen on the bar a symbol that looks like curved lines will allow you to connect to a wifi connection. If you have no access to ethernet or wifi, you can't have internet. Need more information to diagnose the problem if that isnt it.

Hello, after some investigation my LINKSYS AE2500 is detected but the driver is not installed. I've googled and I've read everything from it can't be supported by Windows 10 to some people finding fixes for it... unsure what to do. Do these come with installation disks? I might be retarded because I don't remember...

Ethernet cable is plugged in but says it doesn't work/isn't detected which is no surprise because its never worked without the LINKSYS being on first.

last few days have been frustrating and I'm left to wonder if I should be angry/annoyed that I need to potentially purchase new software for this PC update or if I am being a ungrateful bitch because I got Windows 10 installed free as well as PC repair for free.

Computer games take forever to start up, it says can't detect disk most the time. The fact I can't tell if this is the new OS or the fact the disk is scuffed up bugs the shit out of. I overreacted about the audio not working and thought because Windows 10 my audio was dead; my stupid ass had broken headphones plugged in :/ the uncertainty and not being able to fix issues right away is bugging the shit out of me

Win 7 isnt really viable any longer, and win 8 is trash win10, for all of its faults, is what works and will be used for many years to come. Your router might need some software updates, but, from the kind of tone or language I understand this tech stuff is not your forte.

I used to sell that router. Very basic and nearly 8 years old now. It should still work fine tho for your purpose. And if it isnt, you dont need it. The modem should be right theres, feeding the router. You can take the ethernet cable out of the router port labeled internet and plug that into your ethernet port on your computer. Smh yea I know everyone over here with modern shit and I'm sitting over here crying in frustration because my PC died and I had to go from "everything works ok for me windows vista" comfort zone to nothing working, nothing looking the same and not adjusting to it.
I want to like Windows 10 but I do not at the moment. I really wish I had a fucking Vista. Seriously if I had a SP1 Vista right at this moment I would just go back to it. My OCD and already frayed emotions aren't holding up to this sudden change to my comfort zone. We use what we have, no big deal to like something else. The unfortunate truth is that vista is dead an buried. I wouldnt let anyone I know use that system online any longer. Offline, fill your boots.

Win8 was and continues to be a thing. It was an attempt at a touch friendly windows before most people were open to the idea. It was buggy, and obtuse to use. Win10 does a much better job and may be the best windows yet. Not perfect, not by a long shot. But I can reinstall it in 10 minutes on a good pc instead of 10 hours and 10 discs.

Dont do any of those fixes you found. Routers arent devices you can fix with anything like you mentioned.

If you have a cellphone you may be able to use your phone as a mobile hot-spot using easy-tether until it is fixed. I used this method extensively in my college-days.

Did you try to install Linksys windows 8 or 7 drivers? Just cause they say it works with 8 doesn’t necessarily mean it doesn’t work for 10.
