Perhaps Vrghr can help a little on the new user interface part though:
Journals & Notes are in a menu under your user name at the top of the page. Favs, Gallery, Scraps, and Journals are also available in a row across the page top, beneath the relocated "Browse, Upload, Support" etc items. They're also located beside your user icon on your home page. To get back to your "home", just click once on your user name or icon at the top of any page you happen to be on.

Under the "Settings" menu dropdown next to your user icon/name, you can select "Account Settings" and scroll down to "Account Personalization". From there you can choose between the new "Modern" site look, or revert back to the old "Classic" look.

That is not good news. Myself, I'm dealing with diabetes II issues, so I commiserate with you. I hope that your body gets to healing and we have to put up with you for a good long time.
