Laptop died? (Very Frustrated)

General
So a few days ago I turn on my laptop and start browsing FA. Then I noticed that the power was low and started charging it, only it wasn’t charging. Before I know it, it shuts off and I haven’t been on it the entire weekend.
I’m really frustrated and worried right now. I took it to Office Depot, since it was the only place that wasn’t closed but they couldn’t get it to charge, if the battery was dead than it should still charge, but after going through several charges it still wouldn’t come on. I was already planning to buy a new one, but the problem is that there is a $hit ton of stuff I didn’t back up. Games, videos, comics, etc. They said it would be possible to get everything off the hard drive but only to a compatible computer or one with a bigger memory, which means more money. I’ll be trying some other technical support stores before I make that decision first. So yeah, hope your weekend has been better.

from the sound of it, the battery might be dead dead. should be able to suck out the data on the old laptop's drive to salvage, just need to either remove the drive or power the laptop to extract. i'm sure you already know but a battery can only be charged and recharged so many times before weakening.
