Thornwolf had a table at FC this year, which I was surprised to see because I thought she dropped out of the furry art scene years and years ago. Nope, she just posts everything on Twitter now.

To be fair, posting art on Twitter is fine, and if you sell commissions there is a serious market opportunity there. Some full time artists I know make a living entirely from sales via Twitter.

But I agree that going Twitter-only with no any proper gallery kept up to date is meh. (Though people whose only updated gallery is Instagram also piss me off... Insta is the most horrible platform for an art gallery [as it was never meant to be one to begin with].) Also, just generally I think every furry artist should have an FA presence as it is the single place where the majority of furries are. It's like Facebook in the sense that the site has a LOT of problems, but you can't deny it's where people are and as such where it's easiest to have your stuff seen.

I would like to use Twitter for mostly keeping people posted on things happening in my life. I will always post my new art to FA as well as my website. All this information is helpful as Twitter is very confusing with no real good instructions.

Tbh, when it comes to getting noticed twitter has alot of pros for the artist.
-Easy to retweet and share the art with other people
-Liked posts sometimes show up in the feed for followers of the person who liked the tweet.
-No need for tagging

But like you say, its an awful portfolio site because browsing the gallery (depending on how active the person is with posting pictures that aren't art) can easily become a pain.
Its a shame because I follow so many artists that I like but I have no doubt that I am missing alot of the art they make just because they tweet it, I don't see it and then it becomes burried.
They don't even need to have an FA account, I'd just be happy if the artists used ANYTHING that propperly displayed their art in an easy to view format.

I've been frustrated with trying to view other artists art on Twitter because it gets mixed in with everything else. Most times they have a link to another site where I can view the art with out much trouble. You are right in how some people don't have anything else or sadly the website is no better.

Welcome to the thing! If nothing else, twitter's fantastic for getting your work out to a wide audience, and it's not terribly hard to keep up with.

You like, already don't exist to me outside of commissions, e-mails, and cons. :P At least you're not on facebook? That's a cesspool. Also, twitter is my worst social media platform. I'm too goddamn old..

FB is definitely a cesspool... and yet, it's sadly one of the best place to sell commissions and advertise at. That's the only reason I have an account. I hate it every time I need to go on it, but it got me bread on the table.

So excited to see what you will bring!

It is a fun place to just post what you have going on in your day, and maybe just WIP or stuff you might not want to post in a gallery or scraps.

So happy to have another of my long time favorites to follow.
