Another Update on my Cancer
General
everyone just to let you all know that this Friday I have a PET Scan early in the morning and see the doctor after to discuss the results of said scan to see if the cancer has decreased to what they like to see. If so then I will be proceeding to do a STEM Cell transplant which is where they will give me some drugs to ramp up my STEM cell production before they go to take my own STEM cells. Then they freeze them and a week after I get immitted into the hospital for 21/28 days. The first 6/7 days will be getting a strong dose of Chemotherapy for wiping out my immune system as they essentially want to restart it. Then day 7/8 they will return those STEM cells they took out of me earlier. This helps the body recover and rebuild its immune system quicker and more efficiently. Then they will monitor me for the two weeks after to make sure I'm recovering nicely before letting me return home for the caregivers to help me. At that point I am not allowed to go anywhere without a mask and must wash daily as well as those whom visit must take precautions when they come to see me. So they must wash their hands and were masks when they visit me in the home and the home will have to be cleaned daily as I'm very prone to infection till my immune system rebuilds itself. Which the amount of time it takes for the body to fully recover the immune system is anywhere from 6 months to a year after the chemotherapy.
another name for the transplant is Autologous Stem Cell Transplant for if yous like to research it
