I've had a few people ask how he got them, so I thought I'd make a short journal post about it. I still intend to post the full short story that details it further, but this will do for now.

For a time Widjet was part of an airship crew, as the chief engineer. The ship was attacked by sky pirates who intended to take the crew for ransom, things almost immediately went even more sideways when his captain decided to resist. The scar on Widjet's hip is from a sword swipe he didn't completely avoid during the initial fight on the bridge. The two small scars on his shoulder are an entry and exit wound from being shot at later, he got very lucky with that one, he was standing still when the pirate shot at him.

The attack has had a lasting effect on him beyond the scars as well, he suffers from nightmares, and loud unexpected bangs have him dropping to the floor or reflexively seeking cover. He keeps a griffon made pistol with him wherever possible, as well as other weapons in places he spends the most time. He also always keeps an eye out for routes of escape from wherever he is, and keeps meticulous plans of action for many possible emergencies. He's not exactly paranoid, but vigilant is pretty accurate.
