Being a Patriot (not the football team)
According to Marriam-Webster a Patriot is: one who loves his or her country and supports its authority and interests
Now Authority is given by the people here in the united states, that autority is given under the assumption that you will follow the interests of those who elected you. this goes for republicans, dems, independents, and any other group who's cobbled together enough voters to classify themselves as a party. Regardless of which side of the isle a person hails from, they are all expected to do what the people want you to do to make their lives easier/safer.
It seems somewhere in our history the politicians became confused, and or forgot their purpose in the big scheme of things. they stopped serving the people and started serving themselves or the corporations that lobby (read bribe) for a specific thing.
This is partially the voters fault. we as Americans have become uninterested, and sometimes completely apathetic when it comes to our right to vote. People either don't vote because they've decided it doesn't make a difference, or they don't research what a man/women stands for, and vote either on a party line, or on the incumbent because they haven't heard the persons name in the news lately so they must be doing an ok job. Most care more about who was kicked off of American idol last night rather then what their representatives voted on. The saddest part is that those same representatives use that lack of interest to their advantage and basically do what they wish
This needs to stop now before it gets any worse. we need to exercise our right to choose who represents us, and who gets sent packing. if a particular representative at any level fails to do what he/she says they'd do within a reasonable amount of time, send them on their way with a nice little fruit basket and their wonderful government pension. if their caught stealing, cheating, or otherwise muddying their station, assure that they really have done it, and fire them, then try them.
Theodora Roosevelt said that "No man is above the law and no man is below it; nor do we ask any man's permission when we ask him to obey it” somewhere along the way we as the people have forgotten that. some high named actor/actress kills someone, their in jail for 3 years and are out. A person in a political position steals things, and nine times out of ten the public is more then happy to let him/her resign and leave it at that. When are we the people going to start holding everyone to the same standard that we are expected to live by?
Every man and woman should be enraged by the things the government is doing and has done to us. They should be hopping mad that their elected officials stopped representing their needs and wishes the day after they were sworn into their respective office.
We fought the British over that sort of bullshit back when we were colonies. they were doing whatever they wanted, and basicaly ignored what we the people wanted. No taxation without representation wasn't jsut some fancy slogan Washington came up with to rally the people around an empty promise. They were being told what to pay for what items, services, hell even existence. Much like we are now, except now people only smile and assume they "know whats best for them" it stopped being "the white mans burden" and became the "governments burden"
For anyone who does not know what that means. The White Man's Burden. was a short poem written by Rudyard Kipling, that basically stated that the white man was in charge of all other races because they were to stupid/undeveloped to take care of themselves. This is happening more and more in our government. These men/women who have gone to college for law seem to think that all of us who have not done the same as them know nothing, and there for need to be taken from place to place so that we can live.
When are we going to stand up to the government like the patriots of the revolutionary war did and set things right once more. What will it take for us to take up arms against a government that no longer stands for what we thought it did. When will we start taking a vested interest in the group that runs our lives, indoctrinates our children, and soon tells us where to live and die?
I am ready for that day to come, and will proudly march side by side with anyone who wishes to join the fight. Are you?

So I got tired of being a one-man-protest and decided to fight only for MY own personal freedom. And the first step for that was to bury my country of birth and come to this one, where (at least back then) individuality was not considered a crime.
Would I fight again?
The question is for whom? And do they deserve to be free?
people who don't wish to fight for their freedom don't deserve to be free. only those willing to die for the things they believe in are worthy of the rewards that they would receive from it.
Granted this is just my opinion
In the entire history of mankind, there has not been a single moment when the masses spontaneously stood up against oppression. Beyond every revolution there has been a very small group of men who started the movement and found a way to galvanize the usually apathetic populace into action.
So, to be freedom there has to be leadership. And if something defines the state of today’s world is the decreasing standards of what a leader is supposed to be. We live in a time when leadership is defined by the ability to read a computer screen without stuttering too much. In a decade or so you will see people hailing a cardboard cutout as a master of oratory.
Where are our Alexanders and Julius Caesars?
We have mediocre leaders; therefore we live in a mediocre world. And the worse is most people like it that way.
All people are complete strangers until we get to know them. I certainly have more in common with cartoonists and cartoon fans throughout the world than other people who live in the U.S.
Every animal identifies with the members of it's own group closely than the whole species. A wold don't share food with all the wolves of the planet, he hunts and eats with his own pack. Even the collectively-minded ants and bees will fight off members of anther hive. It's just natural.
Even in an imaginary future where the borders across nations become blurry, people will always divide in groups based in common or different interests (unless they have all become mindless zombies)
Loving the whole human race is just unpractical idealism.
It's like saying I have to feel the same emotional attachment about a complete stranger than I feel about a close friend or relative.
It gives me a perverse pride that in my country (ranked 1st equal with Denmark and Sweden on the 2008 Corruption Perception Index) the only example of a politician convicted on charges of undue influence in using their position for personal gain in New Zealand politics was done for swapping immigration approval for free paintwork on his house... we obviously just don't think big enough
