THE APOCALYPSE HAS STARTED

All right, now that I have your attention lets talk about my current life…
Like in many countries, France is experiencing confinement procedure.
As you may guess, respecting social distance in Paris isn't very natural.
Yet, one have to get use to it…
To summarize my “new way of life”:
– I am at home, in Paris, with tape water, heating, fridge, TV, etc.
– I also have an access to the Internet (as you may guess).
– I am still paid… and I still try to work, somehow, on my archaic laptop.
– I am allowed to go out to buy food and drink (and also toilet paper).
––– For this I have to sign a form (my last photo) because… well… France.
––– In order to enter the supermarket, ones should wait in a line (distance).
––– Supermarket in Paris are not yet empty and some shops are still working.
– When I am out I wear a mask because I don't know if I am infected or not.
– I feel concerned about the pandemic for 1 reason: my dad is old and weak.
––– Hopefully, he isn't here currently (it's more secure in hospital than at home).
––– He is the only close family left (that happens when you are only child).
To make it short:
1°/ My way of life is comfortable enough (unlike the medics).
2°/ I am still supposed to work from home so no risk of getting bored.
3°/ The situation in Paris is not comparable to 1945-46! It's bearable, really.
My rants:
1°/ Most of my vacation schedules are brutally cancelled…
2°/ Some people aren't respecting the “rules” of confinement.
2°a – their ignorance of the situation is regrettable
2°b – their selfishness is utterly stupid
2°c – some of their justifications (population regulation) are just…
no comment.
Stay home, keep distance and take care of each other.
…
But don't have to follow the “rules” imposed by authorities.
Nobody can force you to choose your future…
“Laissez-faire” is also a solution, leading to some different results ↓↓↓

a civil war followed by the worst dictatorship of the 19th centurythe Great Revolution of 1789 and our Emperor Napoleon, whom reign brought joy and freedom all over European nations (including Africa of course)...Well self regulation is definitively not the kind of model I would rely on.
I get why people are being asked to practice social distancing techniques, but for how long? A month? 3 months? 6 months? I also get that the governments of the world are afraid too many cases will hit the hospitals too quickly and will over run them.
I don't think sequestering people for 3 months in their homes and shuttering many services and businesses will protect society. All we're doing is slowing down industry and potentially causing a depression that could look like 1929 very soon.
This is the first pandemic being brought to you by social media. People are panicking because of the amount of unfiltered information they are getting and not truly understanding what to do.
Discuss.
PS : Concerning flu, reassure me please, the vaccine is available, FREE and STRONGLY recommended for people over 60 in the USA too?
«Herd Immunity » sounds interesting but it would put the Hospitals and the health system in a very difficult situation because of the potentially massive number of new cases. We’re starting to have difficulties already ( low stocks of masks, lack of breathing apparatuses) and we haven’t even reached the peak of the epidemic yet in France.
Between some colleagues who stopped working ( Work accident/sick leave) , the likelihood of health workers getting sick is high because we’re getting more and more exposed. Who will replace them while they recover?
First pandemic brought by social media? 2009 H1N1 was a thing if I recall.
They only announced school closures yesterday, but as someone who works in a school, I can see that their hand was forced: The NAHT already made it clear that schools are going to have to start closing soon, with or without the government's permission. Better for the Prime Minister to give the order and be seen to be obeyed than for him to let schools close without his say-so.
