Worst place to be right now
As you might know, I live in Italy and to be more precise, in Northern Italy, 20 minutes away from the city of Milan which is the most infected city in the whole country. We had almost 800 deaths in the last 24 hours. Over 42.000 total infected, and almost 5000 deaths from the beginning of the contagion.
Here is a newspaper with the latest news, translated with google:

Here is a little Coronavirus Survival Guide that I wrote on my DA Account, I'll post it here just in case it might be useful:

Remember to stay safe and stay at home as much as you can! I'm safe here, I've got a whole vegetable garden full of fresh food so starving is the least concern and I can avoid grocery stores which are a dangerous place full of potentially infected people!
But at least now I should have more time to dedicate to art and commissions so if you need any kind of art service, feel free to note me! Any kind of financial support is of great help in this kind of situation!
I hope you're all safe and that you'll always be!
This is my commission queue status.
I'll update it whenever I make progress with the commissions.
Feel free to check it out to see the progress on your commission, or how long the queue is before your turn.

I hoped to never have this sort of list but sadly, there's always a first time. This is the list of all the commissioners who commissioned me, grabbed the free sketch and never paid.

The more I live into this problem, the more I think that letting people die and save the economy is sort of the best option.
Here the government tried to save as many people as possible, and it shut down everything. The problem is that even if we stay shut until the wave passes, as soon as we reopen again, another wave will hit maybe even harder than the first. So shutting down the country won't solve the problem, it just pushes it further in the future.
We need a vaccine, asap, that's the only thing that will save our economy and our lives. If a vaccine will be ready in one year, that's too much. The country can't stay shut for a whole year, every single activity, from restaurants to factories will go bankrupt, we all lose our jobs, and people will go insane to stay in house arrest, because that's what it is. House arrest.
(Comparatively the USA is going to give a trillion dollars to the people that don't need it by way of "economic stimulus"; or at least that's what its looking like: there's some good in what I've heard being done, but I saw some news this morning that looks like a good chunk of money is going to be given away to big corporations that really don't need it, and those corporations are going to squander it).
And this is what showed up in my email yesterday (one of the political action committee mailing lists I'm on) regarding the US bailout plans:
- Mnuchin gets to dole out hundreds of billions to Corporate America — without revealing which companies got bailed out for half a year.
- Businesses are not required to keep workers on their payrolls.
- There are NO meaningful oversight mechanisms to prevent fraud and waste by the companies that get bailed out.
(Emphasis mine)
Though it does bring me a great deal of comfort to not only see you and others speaking out about the situation. But hearing that you've taken steps to be more self reliant with food and the like. Am actually doing much the same thing. Some of my fondest memories of growing up in Alaska were the huge vegetable garden I had. And this situation finally gave me the kick in the butt I needed to start one again. So there's a silver lining for you. :)
I've been preparing for the eventual disintegration of the modern society all my life, most of the time thinking that I was an idiot to do so, I never imagined that I would live long enough to see it happen for real, and now I'm really glad that I have the means to safely go through this whole thing.
