[UPDATE] - Broken Computer and tablet !!?
Heya folks !
It's been a while since my last update here!
(Commissions are open, please read to the end!)
Honestly, 2020 has brought its fair share of challenges and it's not been easy. Especially with the recent developments all around the world. I got stuck with the job of setting up my entire clinic to be able to handle working from a distance. Let me tell you it ain't an easy task x.x Especially when your specialist are physiotherapist who usually do MANUAL therapy. We are considered an essential health service and as such, must continue to provide help to people whilst being able to manage with the current times.
Truly, a monumental task, of which I am getting in the rhythm slowly but surely.
Also, my computer broke recently (about a week ago) and had to buy a new one. That was NOT planned at all in our budget, but since we were wise in saving up, we could afford to get me a new one and all was dandy. Until today.
Got my computer, set it up with everything. Antivirus, programs, drivers, etc. but for some reason, it won't detect my tablet, at all.
I tried all I could think of : checking all the drivers properly, reinstalling them, restarting the computer, unplugging and plugging my tablet in all of the USB ports and nothing seems to work.
As such, considering I work from home, have found it easier to work from home and all of that, I figured I might just open up comms in order to get me a new tablet !
I have some already on the list, which take priority. Some I am awaiting news from to continue, and others who are advancing proper. But without a tablet, I can't draw anyway...
So yeah, I am opening up comms UNTIL I REACH MY GOAL.
I am trying to get my hands on this model :
https://www.xp-pen.com/product/541.html
Which is 699.99$ USD with taxes, it should roughly be around 810$USD. I can handle shipping fees if there is any.
Of course, take into consideration that before I can even start on your commission, I have to have reached my goal, and I have to have received my tablet.
I can do traditional art if you want your art more immediate and you like my trad. art, which you can find here : https://www.furaffinity.net/gallery...../Special-Event
They would go for 25$ each.
You can comment here or send me a note if you are interested o/
I know I could go for a more portable tablet or smaller, but since I've been eyeing this model for a bit, I figure why not go for it seeing the chance has opened up.
Anyways, yeah, what an eventful year so far x.x
Love you all !

The problem may not be the tablet
It could also be the USB port
They'll charge your device anyway, but a single broken pin will prevent the whole device from being recognized by the PC.
If the problem is that, a quick check to a service shop would do. According to what you said I don't think it's due to the PC indeed.
The worst thing that could be happened is an issue to the mainboard soldered components. In that case buying a new tablet could be the fastest option.
But often, in electronics, even the silliest issue may cause apparently terrible problems. Always check every possibility ^^
Which model do you use?
I do feel it might be the usb port. It has seen better days and non recognition issues is not the first time its happened, just not quite this persistent and much. My old computer would sometimes detect it in and out, but a restart of the computer or an unplugging and plug back in of the tablet would solve it for a while. I know the positionning of the cable in the port was very important whenever I used it too.
And yeah, I feel like if I have to find a way to get my tablet repaired in the times we are in currently, firstly it would be too complicated to find a shop for it especially since its not an urgent matter. Secondly, I've been looking into getting a new tablet to begin with by the time my birthday rolls around in summer. Just not immediately, but it would be a waste to spend money on repairing it now to change it in three months and a half.
I do appreciate your help on this tho ! It helps to think things through a little more before doing something as drastic as changing tablets right then and now ;v;
Keep in mind thought that tablets are peripheral devices, their upgrade rate is slower compared to CPU and motherboards, which each year become much faster.
Eventually time is money. Repairing a small break in order to augment by some year the device life or buy a brand new at much higher cost.
Regarding computers, their lifespan is 5-9 years. If well cared though they can become immortal like my laptop, which has 12 years and still works.
I appreciate you found my suggestion useful. I hope you'll solve the problem soon.
