I want to create a character with fanatical tendencies (i.e. Fan girl/boy). Where do you think I should look for inspiration r.e. Colour scheme, Appearance, Species etc.?
What are they a fan of? I would use google images to search "x fan" where x is the thing, and write down details of their appearances that you found noteworthy. Then simplify that list to the most important ones after.
Color and species would really depend on what they like too.
Hiya! That's a good point, sorry for being so vague.
So, this character is essentially representing a negative part of me; my fear of rejection, and tendency to put people (celebrities and friends-alike) on pedestals. Also, since the big development in social media, now there's the anger and anxiety I get when a mutual, or celebrity doesn't respond to my comments. I think I've always had this side in me, when I was a kid, getting upset when stuff I sent into shows wasn't acknowledged, childhood nightmares about meeting my favourite characters from shows, and them hating me.
I want a means to vent, but also acknowledge that my venting is irrational and unfounded...but hopefully perhaps relatable?
Sorry for the essay. One friend suggested a Dog, and I was considering perhaps a Kobald? (the feeble reptilian dnd draconic kind). One thing for sure? I think Parvenu would be a good name, as it would relate to my desperate need for acceptance from 'cool' people.
Ohh... I didn't understand the Stan thing, but I do now.
Kobold could be interesting. If your gut feeling says that's the aesthetic, roll with it. I see where your friend is coming from saying a dog, they'll turn the house upsidedown if you leave 'em alone for an hour. Parvenu is a great name!
Making the doll look just a little exhausted/unhinged would be awesome. And what color is that "ignored" feeling, purple? Kinda a mix of sadness and anger, blue and red.
Pardon the comment spam, I just wanted to mention I can definitely relate. Even recently, I was talking with someone on FA about sculpture and they just stop talking to me outright. I'm left wondering what I did to creep them out. I know I'm socially awkward, but come on!! :P I've got major baggage in the rejection department.
OMG Thank you so much for weighing in on this! I attended one of your virtual seminars a couple years ago, and found it super useful. I think something with a few degress of separation would be good, using colours that I myself never ever use?
I might get some of my characters, and play with inverting their colour schemes in photoshop.
Hello!
Thank you for commenting!
Yes, I get what you mean, in fact, I was thinking of a Kobold, (my dnd knowledge isn't great) as aren't they kind of Dragon Stans?

Your comments are the antithesis of spam, and thank you for letting me know you relate :)
I'm sorry that person's been unresponsive, could they have anxiety about typing? they could be unsure of what to say or how to say it?

Dragon could be a good species since many types are known to hoard items they like?

Kobold might work well! I don’t know a lot about them either but they are related to dragons!
