Hey, y'all! We've been posting a lot about our Patreon lately, and it's grown a bit more rapidly than expected. Not a complaint, mind you. In fact, we're beyond grateful. But it has led to numerous discussions about how to proceed and where we go from here. Obligatory Patreon link: https://www.patreon.com/rancidartstudio
First, we've passed the mile marker for opening a merch shop and are in the process of figuring out which one to use. This is relevant to everyone, as it will be a public-access thing. It might take a minute, but the process has begun.
Second, we're quickly approaching our mile marker for putting out comic pages, which will also be public. So, we have feelers out for hiring someone to make us a website equipped to handle everything we'd need it to. If interested in the job, please contact us with a portfolio and pricing. And that bring us to our first real questions. We'll go into the other questions from here as well. We'll number them, so you can easily answer by number instead of explaining which thing you're answering. Answers can be in comments, our FB inbox, or notes here on FA. Wherever is most comfortable for y'all is fine by us.
1. What sorts of merch would you like to see us making? Be as specific as you like.
2. For comic promo material, would you prefer informative and direct (info dumps, character art, sketches)?
Or do you prefer a more cryptic, puzzle-piece type of deal (out-of-context comic-world documentation, notes "from management," species doodles)?
3. Is everyone still enjoying the idea of monthly fanart pin-ups of canon characters on Patreon? Or would anyone have interest in/prefer we post a selection of our own OCs and allow patreons to vote each month for which one we do a pin-up of instead? These are made available to all patrons pledging $1 or more each month on early access, and we eventually release them to the public after no less than 1 month of being Patreon-only.
4. What sorts of YCH's and/or bases would you like to see over the next several months? YCH's, of course, will be made available to the public. Bases, however, are Patreon-exclusive for those pledging $5 or more each month. Though, pledging once gives you access to all previous months' bases.
Basically, we have lots of ideas, but we want to know what's pertinent to y'all. Make sure our ideas are relevant and up to date.

2)Definitely character arts with maybe a few infos about them! Not too much info drops because I like to discover characters through comics ;) Have you seen the trollcalls for hiveswap friendsim? Here's an example : https://pm1.narvii.com/6661/de8d699.....b3179f7_00.jpg
Basically, one full body (chibi or not, whatever's easier for you) + a few fun facts sounds like easy and not too big an assignment on top of your regular work :)
3)I love monthly fanarts of pinups, but I definitely wouldn't mind seeing you draw your own ocs if that's more fun for you! Maybe you could make a 'multiple choices poll' with your ocs, and leave one answer open ended so people can suggest canon characters still. Instead of going for a popularity vote, you choose what inspires you the most! If it's ocs, then ocs it is. If it's canon, then canon it is c:
4)I'm not financially stable enough right now to afford YCH so I'll abstain from answering this one, but for bases I'm CRAVING a lion base, a bull base and a squirrel base. Maybe a 'nsfw couple' base and stuff like that? Whatever floats your boat, honestly, I just love any base you put out. I will most definitely use them all at some point in time.

1. Totally get that. We're getting tons of input on merch ideas anyway, and you're right on target for what everyone else is saying.
2. That's a really cool example, and we had considered that as one of the options. With your vote, we might just be going that route, tbh.
3. We do like the idea of keeping fanart and doing OCs. How would you feel about alternating months? OC one month, canon the next, etc?
4. Lion, bull, and squirrel are all on the list, as well as someone else's suggestion of cat and dog. We can't believe we haven't done cat and dog yet. Would you prefer lion lineart? Or like... a "big cat" base with options for others as well?
Definitely looking at some couple's NSFW bases. There's a spanking one we have in mind, and also a technically solo but couple implied base with bondage paraphernalia (spreader bar, wrist bindings, etc). Anything specific you'd want to see for couples otherwise?
2) Hell yeah! That's the stuff I like the most <3
3) I'm good with alternating months! But like, it doesn't have to be half and half either. If you want to do more ocs, then ocs are fine! I'd say to go with monthly pinup inspiration of the moment? You sure can do polls and all, but I don't think you should stress over with that too much! c:
4) Maybe its because I'm bored of domestic cats and dogs but BIG CATS BIG CATS. I just think there are a thousand and one base for cats and dogs already. Unless you go for specific breeds ( Like, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say no to a Saint-Bernard or Sharpie base or Mastiff???) -stares at my options- I guess I like em BIGG no matter what lmao
5) As for couples base, there's a lot of rope bunnies base but I'd die for a choking base (with a leash, partner on four and the other one behind) or maybe, if I may be a little kinky, food play? or if you want bondage, maybe a few options for toys? B) There could be one partner bound to the bed and the other partner you only see the hand holding whatever toy you designed to fit in that hand? IDK just a few suggestion^^
I've seen some people do acrylic stands for their art, and they would look so nice with your clean style honestly. (I could recommend places as well)
But YES, make character sketch/note sheets for characters in your comics. It's just an added detail that most really enjoy.
2. I always love a puzzle, but any opertunity to try and figure out how you two portray your characters personalities and actions would be lovely. Ive got a bit of a fixation on good character expression.
3. I agree with you and videcoeur in regaurds to alternating the monthly pin ups. Mostly for reasons stated above regarding seeing more of your guys' characters.
4. As for YCH's, imo there needs to be a sort of balance between NSFW and SFW options as well as single and paired auctions. Maybe have them on a rotating schedules? And maybe do big group auctions every 6 months? That might be a ton of extra work though so up to you.
Ex. Month 1: NSFW Solo auction.
Month 2: SFW Solo auction.
Month 3: NSFW Paired auction
Month 4: SFW Paired auction.
Those are just my thoughts though.
2. We also have a fixation on good character expression, so we feel you there. We'll definitely keep that in mind when we're doing our promo stuff.
3. Love that, definitely implementing that immediately.
4. That's a great balance, and we'll aim for something like that. We're hoping to do Megas and Mini-Megas every like... 3-4 months. But having a solo and/or paired each month is a perfect schedule. <3
