Pretty sure just about all modpacks requires a special launcher to work, at least without any sort of complicated setup and file manipulation. I would say your easiest method would be to use the Twitch/Curse Launcher.

As for a pack ... if you are new to mods, I would recommend FTB Academy (I personally have never played it, but I do know it teaches you pretty well on all the different mods).

If you already know how to play modded, then FTB Revelations is pretty good. And if you want something a bit more challenging, in terms of progression SevTech: Ages is pretty popular.

Honestly, tech mods are super complicated. I'd recommend doing an adventure based modpack.
