There used to be an enormous egg farm near where I grew up; at its peak there were something like 4.5 million chickens in their care. My father would periodically have clients who worked there, and you knew without even asking them, because the smell followed them that much. Just driving past the place reeked.

This would be pretty unbearable.

Buddy boy, this sort of thing kills people. I mean, on a big scale the emissions of farms knock out a few tens of thousands of people a year (https://www.thebureauinvestigates.c.....0-lives-a-year ) but more specifically about a dozen people a year suffocate to death on chicken farms, mostly in the developing world. Same goes for other farm types; pork farms kill FAR more, enough that someone died not far from whee I live, 5 years ago. (https://www.odt.co.nz/regions/north.....-workers-death ) He fell into an effluent pond and choked to death on the gases before he could climb out. And this was in the open air mind.

I've heard of manure pit deaths, but couldn't find anything about anyone dying in this prison!

But would you though? I mean nearly a hundred people just got 'vanished' in a Russian prison this week and there's hardly any info on that. Prisons seldom want to talk about how many die inside them and nobody's gonna take note unless it's famous like the Black Hole of Calcutta.
