I'm not sure how your cat got out, but I have a few ways to help her come back! I saw this online/something my family did when my cat went missing and it helped bring her back. If they got out by an opening in a screen or a window it's best to leave it open of possible because they know it's how they escaped and will tend to come back and reenter through the hole or opening.

Another way is, if possible, leave a box or maybe get one of those traps used for strays and place a toy or some blankets they've laid on or something of yours in the box/cage. The scent can travel pretty far and may be able to reach them and lead them back home as it's something from their home.

I would love to leave a window open for her but I unfortunately have other cats who might get out. :"( I do have a humane trap set up though in my yard that I will bait with food every night, hopefully it will lure her! I've been putting my worn shirt from the day out every night by our door along with her litter tray. Make sure your search is close to home and VERY thorough. If Pekoe is not an indoor/outdoor cat, Pekoe is likely very close by and hiding somewhere. A confident cat wanders, a scared one hunkers down. Also search late at night and very early mornings with a high powered flashlight. Look for eye reflections. Don't expect Pekoe to come when you call, as fear may overrule familiarity. Check under decks, in crevices, backyards, maybe open garages, up trees, in canals/drainage pipes. If a cat head can fit in it, check it! I found my cat after 4 days using these tips. He was in my neighbors yard at midnight. Good luck finding your darling Pekoe!

Her temperament is definitely confident which has me worried as to how far she might have gone. Luckily I am fairly nocturnal and can search most nights/mornings. -Thank you so much for the advice though! I'm going to do a thorough check of the neighborhood every single night forever if I must. (I'm so glad you found your kitty btw! <3)

also search in the evening, we had a cat that while confident inside when he got out was not so much, he would end up hiding in thick bushes and not come out until the sun was setting.

My neighbors are kind so I know they'll keep an eye out...we've already gotten one phone call from a man who said she was on his front lawn! We weren't close to home when it happened so we missed her. :'( Thank you for the kind words though, it helps keep me positive.

When my cat got out one night I saw some advice that leaving an outside door (garage, laundry room, etc) open with some of your clothes inside can help because they'll recognize the smell.

Hopefully Pekoe comes home soon.

so sad to hear about missing cats always, hope Pekoe finds way home or someone else will bring them back... I remember how i lost my cat more than 10 years ago when it was -40 in winter and it makes my heart cry even more (gladly mine were found safe)

i know traditions and conditions in different countries are different, and people's cat feeding habits are too, but i know several cases where cats were found thanks to the sound of alarm clock (of the person who used to feed them in mornings) - because they associated it with food strongly. People just took their phones near the places where cats could hide, like basements of the nearby houses, and walked with the familiar sound of alarm ringtone turned on. It made cats go out even though they didn't react owner's voice and didn't go out before when people called them.
