Interested in finding a D&D group.

My new dice, and Player's Handbook should be arriving soon-ish, and I can't wait to get back into D&D. I haven't played officially in so long (back in the days with negative AC, and THAC0 Tuesday...), I have to get used to the new 5e rules. I'd like to find a local group to play with, but I haven't been able to find anything yet. It would be easier on me to play over Discord, but I don't have a mic, or a camera, so I don't know how well that will work.
I've already made about half a dozen characters that are ready to play, along with the start of a new homebrew world with some interesting weather hazards. I'm torn between wanting to DM to share this world and to play all the characters I just made, but I'm a bit out of shape with my DM'ing experience, and I do want to try my luck being the player for once... but I also want to play in my new world I'm making. ^__^; I like to homebrew a lot of stuff, and I don't know if other DM's would be okay with it.
My social skills with small groups has been... hmm, lacking, methinks. It would be good to practice getting over my social anxiety, and interact with more people. However, with my health, it is always taking major hits against my stamina and focus. While I have the time to play lengthy campaigns, I fear I don't have the endurance or the energy to keep up a lengthy session on the regular.
The spirit is willing, but the body is saying: "fuck you, I need to lay down for another six hours for the rest of the night..."
*Sigh* I dunno. I'd like to find a good close-knit group that is experienced, and willing to put up with a newbie with the most minimal HP and dreadful Con stat. Lol. I'd also like it if the group leaves real world politics at the door, because I don't want any drama kicked up over tribal leanings.
I'll be looking around for a while, since I still have some time to wait until my handbook arrives (and I am NOT playing with this currently cursed d20! I tried a solo encounter with some goblins, and it turned into a freakin' slap fight, with neither side landing a hit, except for smacking their own hands every time I rolled a 1...), and I need to brush up on all the new rules, though I have a general understanding on some of the rolls and ability checks.
