DNP status for e621
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that I've decided to have all of my artwork, with the exception of "Hornet with a gun" (due to its popularity and my own personal satisfaction), removed from e621 and will no longer allow it to be uploaded there. I've submitted a DNP, and will be the only person who can upload my art from now on, though the latter is more of a contingency plan than something I will actually be doing. I hold nothing against the people who put it there in the first place, in fact I was initially excited to see it there without my involvement and really do appreciate any work you may have done with tagging and sourcing, but after a short time it made me realize that I prefer to have a degree of control over how my art is interacted with that e621 doesn't provide. There's a noticeable difference in quality between the majority of my pieces and most of the content on the site, and giving free reign to the average e621 commenter to do things like repeatedly compare Nelia to Toriel, comment on the art quality, or make whatever uncomfortable RP-like remarks they for some reason feel are necessary (please don't do any of these things unless you know for a fact that the artist would appreciate it) is not a thought I enjoy. There are also some moderation practices on e621 that I find questionable, but I'm going to leave it at that.
Remember that I draw primarily for myself, however selfish that may be. This isn't my career, I don't make anything off of what I'm doing here except in the form of moral support when people enjoy, share, and leave kind comments on my work. It's just a casual hobby, and if I'm not having a good time while doing it then it's not worth doing. When the thought of how the general population of e621 will react to something I've made is preventing me from being able to enjoy drawing, that's a serious problem, and this is the solution I've chosen. I already have a hard enough time posting some of my content here or on Twitter because of the reactions I'm afraid I could receive, but at least in those cases there have only been a few isolated incidents and I usually have the option to remove the problem if the need arises. I much prefer having my art in a place where people can choose to follow me rather than a large archive where it's perpetually compared to everything around it. I recognize that this is going to be disappointing for some people, but I hope you understand.
Thanks for reading, and for your continued support as always. I hope everyone is staying safe and well.
Take care,
