So I went into work today and collected my things from my locker and got some of the details of the lay off. The health insurance will last till the end of June, but they are going to send out some paperwork to get it extended for 3 months so I should be covered for the surgery.

I was told I can apply for unemployment starting June 1st.

I already applied for the state short term disability but I have not gotten an information back yet.
