A Glimmer?
Hello again Fellow FA Artists, Writers, Crafters. Friends, Fans and other creative folks.
While driving to the big Target store Downtown, to pick up refills of my meds yesterday, I noticed that the barricades sealing off Salvia Canyon road were gone, and there were signs that the commuter buses might be running up to the Art Center, to town and back again. My brother and I drove through the Rose Bowl area on the way back, and it appears that the COVID 19 testing, processing, (And holding.) Center was being dismantled. Still... there's a newer, larger and similar Coronavirus testing center up and running in the Dodger Stadium parking lot. In any case, it did my heart good to see some of the restrictions that many of us have had to endure these past three months are being lifted one by one.
I was so excited to see these little signs of normalcy returning, I started planning on taking my weekly walks into town again. Even though most of the paths and hiking trails I take as a "Short cut" into town were still sealed off with green fabric covered chain link fences, I decided to wait at least another week before venturing into town. Also, the re-opening of the "Promenade" surrounding the Rose Bowl and golf course has seemed to have lightened the moods of the local residents. It's great to see others going about the track, Running, Jogging, Cycling, Strolling and walking their dogs again. Also I've heard tell that with the restrictions going into "Stage 4" of recovery, that the various Flea Markets, Swap Meets, and other outdoor venues will be allowed to go back into operation again. I'm all for that, even though I believe it might be a bit too soon for the Pasadena City College Flea Market and even the Big Rose Bowl Flea Market to run again in June. I believe I can hang on attending either venue in July.
Baseball is still "On Hold" though. The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes were making noises about playing a game on Memorial day, but that event was scrubbed due to concerns of lingering Corona Virus infections. Still, there is some comfort in knowing that I might still be able to enjoy watching a Minor League game, enjoying the evening with my Brother and friends sometime soon, at least before the Season is declared over. I'm certain I'll get my hot Kettle Corn or Crackerjack "Fix" Sometime before this year is through.
Be safe and stay well. There's a slight glimmer of hope on the distant horizon.
"Peace".

Connecticut seems to be opening up, too. Some of the Flea Markets have reopened (at least the outside parts) and the MIT Swap Meet is scheduled for the third Sunday in June (I have to work 4-midnigh, so I can't go if I still have a job).
MIT is a diverse lot; a lot of electronic and amateur radio gear, and tons of computer junk. Last time I went (October) a guy had a Tandy Color Computer and several copies of Rainbow (TRS-80 Color Computer) magazine. I looked the computer over, then opened one of the magazines to the software review I published that month -- about 30 or so years ago.
I actually published six reviews before the magazine went toes up. There are copies out on the Interwebz of most of them. They make good references when I apply for jobs as a technical writer.
V.
We just went an entire week with no new cases, there's only one active (non recovered) case, and deaths currently stand at 22 people in total since March. Hopefully we'll be able to open a "travel bubble" with Australia and the Pacific Islands within a month or two.
And thanks for the news from NZ way. Great to read about the much lower casualty counts and folks adapting to the crisis. Over here, the Media has been hyping up the body counts and making the situation seem all the more worse than it is, just to keep the masses glued to their devices.
Heck yes! Oh man could we ever use more wisdom! It won't be easy, but necessary changes often aren't.
Be Safe.
Dominus tecum

We will get through it, eventually. Until then, we gotta take things one day at a time, and stay as safe as we can.
Cousin lives in SoCal.
Friend lives not.
Suffice to say, they're pretty shaken up by the loss. Restrictions may be lifting, but the virus is still here and a VERY Real threat. Be smart. Be safe.
So I do feel sympathy towards the loss of your friend, and I understand at how this can serve as a "Wake up call" to those who feel that this whole Corona Virus thing might just be a hoax. One thing I can tell you though, being on Medicare, I have to deal with State Appointed doctors frequently, and the majority of those I trust when I visit them for a health check up seem genuinely scared greatly by this Pandemic.
Like... LITERALLY, good for you. I'm def in the 'imuno-compromised' category too, so am glad to hear you're being safe. Too many folks act like this is just some sniffle-sneeze-cough thing that a single tissue and a good night's rest can easily cure.
Locally, there's been way too many "suspicious" deaths, so I -KNOW- this thing is being GROSSLY under-reported for whatever reasons.
Cousin's friend (I never met them, just feel bad for cous) was a solid reminder, because, yeah... folks like my stoner-hippie neighbor seriously don't believe it exists. That makes nutters like my neighbor a threat to MY (and your) health.
