・COMMISSION STATUS: CLOSED・
・TRADE STATUS: MUTUALS/FRIENDS ONLY - CLOSED Hey folks, I'm here to give you an update on my current situation.
Some of you know, I'm from Michigan and there has been a lot going on in the past few weeks. Between armed protesters blocking Lansing streets, to meat and stock shortages at local businesses. With the state starting to pull back on stay home act regulations, and with me living in a tourist area, things have taken a complete 180°. Locals and tourists a like have come out in waves.
Work has been extremely busy for our small location despite everything going on. Our dining room remains closed, but our drive thru has remained open since the announcement of the Stay Home Act in Michigan. Normally, our tiny location would only be doing roughly $1400-$1500 between both dining room and drive thru. However, almost every day we have been doing over $2000 exclusively through drive thru.
With tourists coming up from the southern states, new cases of COVID19 have appeared in my city. While we are certainly not being ravaged by the disease, the deaths in and around my city (from the sources I've seen at least) have ranged in ages from 20-80 years.
We have also lost staff at my work as people have found better jobs or their parents (in the case of minors) thought it would be safer and wiser to allow us adults to keep the hours we have to continue earning money during this pandemic. Thus far we have lost four employees and believe it or not, that hurts us bad. Even if corporate pushed the local owners to open our dining room at this time, we would not have the staff to keep up with demand. Not only that, but with the 6ft rule in place, our dining room would only be able to seat roughly 12 people. Drink stations, napkins, and condiments would all be behind the counter guarded by plexiglass, leaving employees to not only keep up with demand in drive thru, but demand from dinging room in regards to drinks, napkins, and the like. We just don't have the staff.
That being said, there is a very good, nearly certain chance that this summer will be another 6 days a week, every week, summer for me. With that in mind, I would like to remind anyone looking to commission me when the time comes for this change in schedule, to please be patient as I may not have as much free time. If it begins to become too much of a strain, then I will close commissions entirely, which I really don't want to do unless necessary.
I will do my best to keep you all informed. Until next time, stay safe.
