MB#105: Stomach acids and anxiety
General
Manometry test went well enough. It appears only surgery can permanently stop my stomach from spewing acid all over my gut, but I am not brave enough to take that venture. I think I will settle with 1 small caplet of omeprazole every day for the rest of my life.
Meanwhile, I have to get my lungs scanned and be assessed by a psychiatrist for anxiety later. I am dreading those.

It also means missing a dose will be a day of hell.
Lastly, the body becomes dependant, and will actually produce even MORE acid over time, especially when the omeprazole is no longer present. This makes you chemically dependant on it even if you have the underlying problem (such as an ulcer or esophageol sphincter repair, peristaltic bypass, etc.), and can gradually cause building chemical damage to the stomach, esophagus, and common bile duct.
It also greatly increases your risk of gall stones, and can inhibit liver enzyme function worsening conditions such as chronic or acute liver damage or gilbert's syndrome.
