Yes. Yes it is. Indeed. It, and the first part of the franchise (Saints Row) are why I have totally dismissed GTA from my mind. I played the original GTA. The top-down, manic shooter for PC. The game that almost everybody buries under the OMGAWESOMEWTFBBQ3D!!!SANDBOX GTA3. Starting with GTA3, the games just started to get more and more serious as Rockstar relied a lot less on humor (in GTA1 you had to 1) Jack a firetruck. 2) Jack an experimental flamethrower 3) Combine them and then 4) Go light a f***ing trailer park full of rednecks on fire.) and more on... REALISM? (Yes, GTA4, I know I drive like an idiot. Don't punish me for doing so.)

Saints Row is, in my mind, the true successor to the REAL GTA. The one that Rockstar has buried under cousin Niko's fat ass. I'm really sorry I never recommended this game earlier to you.

beat it 2 times so far, next round will be on highest difficulty, and with some freak of nature. first round I played with an old grandpa kind of guy with the australian accent. it was hilarious watching him beat up other gangs and seeing him in the cutscenes

I must go buy this game. I bought Bioshock under the same plan - wonderful little game, there.

Make a file for fun, so you can kill people and bring them back with the shock paddles outside of the missions. :3

I've got Saints Row 2 for PC as well. God, anything can happen. Enable the evil cars cheat and start running for your LIFE!

I've been avoiding cheats under some misguided sense of honor. Maybe I should at least use some weather cheats. I keep HDR lighting and ambient occlusion off, so any amount of mist or cloudiness turns the game into a washed-out mess.

I avoid cheats till I finish the game, but when I found out what there was... WOW! O.o
-Raining pedestrians
-dead bodies fly off to heaven
-super explosions
-everyone is drunk
-giant or midget player

... just too many crazy cheats! XD

Feh! Used the sunny weather cheat a few days back. Just noticed yesterday that the game hasn't been keeping track of my stats ever since.

That's probably for the best, honestly. The PC port is a massive resource hog. I meet the recommended system requirements, and it STILL stutters slightly.

Yeah. I have a feeling I'd be doing the same rediculous stuff were I to be playing that game.

I mean, in one of the GTA's, I forget which one, I put in a code that changed my appearance to that of some scottish rock band member guy I didn't play enough of the story to know about, got myself a golf cart (with included golf club, of course!) turned on the anarchy and "every random NPC has heavy weapons" cheats, and.. well, I'm sure you can guess the rest.

Why do they even HAVE missions in sandbox games?

SR2 really is one of the funnest games ever made. Me and Psi had fun for hours not even doing the story line but just doing crazy shit like boosting our cars into gas stations to see how much airtime we could get or playing satchet charge dodgeball while in cars.

Yeah, it really is the ludicrousness of it all that makes it worthwhile! Yesterday I tried taking the game a little more seriously by turning my fat black woman into a dapper Australian dude. It just ... it didn't work! Even while being hurled hundreds of feet through the air by speeding traffic, it just wasn't as FUN anymore!

My roomie made his character a Scrawny Hobo looking guy with a british accent that likes teabagging people...and had a perm Crazy expression on his face

It is an awesome game, funniest thing I've ever done was the Insurance Fraud mini-game, Streaking, and Mad Flasher!

I still don't know why I haven't bought it.

Yeah, I had a tattooed white chick with fat and muscle turned the whole way up. The face modifications are nice too if you get into them.

My character enjoys the finer things in life. Singing along to 'Working For the Weekend', riding his Tetsuo through the city streets, and committing insurance fraud by jumping from a 747 from a mile up into mid-day traffic.
