FA issues/ads and a little rant ...

General
Was trying to post a jpeg and couldn't get past picking the file and hiting 'next (520 file server kicked back an unknown error?)
As this was in a firefox I haven't updated in a while I tried chrome.
... And I was reminded just why I always use an ad blocker on firefox!
An ad or two is one thing if they just sit quietly off to the side; but I'm sorry, the only reason for six or more - some of them moving/waving/constantly changing - ads is because you don't want me on that page ...
Sadly for those quiet little ads the only way to kill/block the moving ones kills/blocks them as well. (And while I now have to unblock them to sign in - the very next click is to put them back in the bad ads box.)
End of rant, I'll try again later to see if I can post the jpeg (someone had thought the bunny ears too big so I ran the dials full up/down to see what we have to play with. )
Edit: it seems some are able to post jpegs at this time, still nothing here (I do hope this isn't their latest try at getting people to put up with their new format ...)
Edit II: went into the new format and was able to load it - but same error when trying to update it to full size ... (and was reminded why I didn't like the new format ...)
Edit III: and finally got it to take the bigger picture, from the old format, so just FA having a day ...

FA+

I had an old Antec tower sitting around, so I carved a hole in it for a little car stereo (and a couple of those little single board computers sucking on the 5 volt line.) I should replace the fans in it - they are their own white noise generators ...
I'm not a fan of ads, but the main reason I block them is due to how certain "ads" act like a back door/hack/virus and the only reason my computer is virus free, is because I learned (the hard way) how to work around such headaches.
There's been several occasions where I contacted the owners of ad infested sites and warned them of how their lovely little money spinner ad systems bounce their clients to sites designed to seriously harm your computer.
Those who resaponded were less than amused with how the very ad software they were using was COSTING them traffic and money because of how they drove people away.
(Better to avoid such sites than have your computer eaten by an "ad")
When I got this W7 system I bought a second drive and one of those disk copiers, so if anything goes all wrong I can at least bring the system up clean from a 'known good' condition.
Did the same to the W7 desktop system I run DAZ on, but that one isn't even allowed access to the internet!
(now if I could just convince me mother to stop clicking 'okay' on every damn window that pops up! )
I agree about the disc copier, I cloned my primary drive to make sure I have a working backup.
And my testing showed it wasn't a browser issue but FA acting up a bit.

A bit like a lot of magazines I used to actually pay money for, when they got too high an ad count I stopped bothering to buy them and got my info elsewhere.
With all things there is a balance of what people will put up with, for me they've crossed the line a while back (and some of us will never click an ad in the first place - so seeing/not seeing it is a moot point. )
Adblockers are a mental health tool, if you ask me.
