Apparently, discovering a dead, hairless animal means you've found a new mystery species.

It's a sloth, kids. Just compare it to any picture of a healthy sloth, and you'll see the ever so striking resemblance. Clearly something was wrong with it to make it hairless, but as it was different the first human response was to attack.
