Not sure about running a contest.

I was thinking of running a contest on my Twitter for my birthday where I give one person a full color commission or reference sheet of their character, but I'm not sure if I should due to prior history.
First, while my Doom Eternal contest had a somewhat decent turnout, prior contests in recent memory only ever had one or two people enter, if any at all, even having me extend deadlines just to get anyone to enter.
Second, my Twitter following has never broken above 30 (I've recently dropped back down to 27 in the past few weeks). And a few followers seem to be just bot accounts. With so few followers, not sure how viable a contest would even be.
So, should I still try, or forget about it altogether?

Second; I feel you on the hesitation and the frustration. It's hard to find justification when you've had a negative experience.
Talking about it is a good start, and this way (if nothing else), you can see who might otherwise be interested in you hosting another similar opportunity. Getting the word out prior to hosting the actual contest can work to drum up support for it, and this way if a journal, or post, or tweet is missed, there's less chance for potential contestants to slip through the cracks.
I know I'd appreciate the opportunity, as I have friends who don't have references who'd love a reference sheet; and that makes a great gift! Not to mention, who wouldn't appreciate the opportunity to get a free full color commission?
I guess the main reason is laziness on our part, not yours.
So... yeah. Advertise it. Get opinions. See who shows a vested interest. If it doesn't appear to be worth it, then don't stress it, or yourself.
Especially not in your Birthday.
Sorry for the long winded speech; you be sure to stay safe and take it easy~
