Blizzard tries & fails to ban player because of his wif.....

Its late on my end so I'll keep this short and link you to the video made by YongYea but long story short:
Blizzard tried unsuccessfully to ban a Hearthstone player from E-Sport events because his wife criticized the company. I wish i was kidding but I'm not. Essentially the guy's wife is a former Blizzard employee who was one of the people that got laid off when Activision-Blizzard laid off some 800 people earlier this year. she was browsing social media, saw a community manager from Blizzard post something like "think you can fit into our community? join us!" that is basically an add to hire new people. the wife was not happy with this, considering she was laid off not to long ago and rather than rehire they try to hire new people, so she responded with an annoyed and snide "are you serious right now?"
the community manager didn't take this well and essentially tried to get her husband banned... there was a statement like "your wife is a liability so I'm afraid you aren't welcome anymore if you bring her with you" or some bullshit like that. well, the player and his wife made the whole thing fairly public which had all the just backlash against Blizzard that it deserved. they have since withdrawn this statement, reinstated the player in question and in private apologized for the incident ('cause apparently the community manager in question didn't even have the power to do something like that) but in the public, they once again try to make it look as though Blizzard did nothing wrong...
man, fuck that company... fuck Blizzard...

quick edit: I can't help but think and be reminded of Satoru Iwata. A man who loved gaming and took a PAY CUT to keep his workers happy and not worrying about their jobs
Do you happen to remember what censorship he was calling for? I'm debating whether to watch any more of his videos, but the ones I've seen feel like they've been good criticisms of bad company practices. (and I enjoyed hearing him call tlou 2 an "ok 7, I guess. Never seen anything so overpromised". Though I liked MoistCr!tikals take on it more, lol)
Thanks!
shovel ware products who are purchased exclusively by morons like him, mind you. anyways, in one of the videos he made at the time, he once again tried to suck the EPIC Games Store cock by playing and showcasing a game called "AIDS Simulator" which was a super crappy joke game about you flying an Apache combat chopper through a sewer or something like that and Jim Sterling made some super cringy bullshit argument like "this offensively titled AIDS Simulator game is a game that Steam fully believes in and stands behind it". which is a bullshit argument in on by itself since Steam only offered to sell the game on its storefront and you don't hear anyone criticizing Amazon for selling the Quran and making similar bullshit arguments like "since Amazon sells this, Amazon believes in it".
after he went on and on about that particular sprout of bullshit argumentation, he started sucking the EPIC Games Store cock by praising how "offensive shit like that isn't available there", never you mind the issue that the EPIC Store has been often criticized for censoring user game reviews (which Steam doesn't do) among many other things. at some point he made some more bullshit arguments on that "Valve should be put in charge to ensure that things like the AIDS simulator can't be sold on Steam anymore" and shit like that, which is him basically saying that he wants a company to not sell things on their storefront anymore that some people might consider offensive... which is essentially censorship.
I don't know about you but I don't want a company to decide what kind of video games I can and cannot consume. the only person that is allowed to decide what kind of video games I consume is myself.
but yeah, following that disaster of a video I unsubscribed from him and have been avoiding his particular brand of cringe (and he's done a lot of cringe) ever since. that video was him showing everybody that he's only pro-consumer and pro-freedom of speech and expression if he himself is not offended by it. fuck him and his hypocritical fat ass.
It's strange, I would swear I saw one video of his actually criticizing that horrible epic games store and their exclusivity practice. ALTHOUGH... I think it was in regards to big developers (gearbox with borderlands 3 for example) taking the money when they have so much already, but also saying the he did understand the practice with indie developers who could probably use the money that they don't have access to like those big developers.
But yeah, trying to defend epic by saying "offensive shit like that isn't there" is a horrible argument and definitely a form of censorship. I think I might look up that video and decide whether I want to see ANY of his videos again. Not that I was an avid watcher before, probably only viewed 10-15 of his videos, and most of those were critical of companies like ea, activision, etc.
And I can totally understand not liking his cringe in general. I like watching Game Grumps, but there are some videos and series I absolutely will NOT watch because of the way they're behaving. And I FULLY understand others not like to watch them at all. Hey, we all have our tastes, right?
Speaking of censorship, I almost feel like I'm living in some form of the Twilight Zone right now. Growing up with the NES and SNES, I remember always hearing about the censorship Nintendo was doing, at least here in the US. (although I understand some of it from researching the climate of the industry here back then) Now they're fine with whatever as long as each game has a rating from the esrb and now sony is censoring everything for the dumbest reason of 'woke' points. The only time I heard of a censoring issue with Nintendo lately was with Tokyo Mirage Sessions, but apparently that was made by the developer Atlus and not Nintendo themselves. *shrugs*
Again, thanks so much for taking the time to reply!
