Seriously it's gotten insane. I get more reminders in my inbox than actual art. There is one artist I am waiting on a commission from that posts at least 5 reminders every day, usually more

It's annoying enough on the frontpage, but it's particularly bad if you're watching the artist. They just show up...over...and over...and over.

Thank you for sharing the extension with us, but are there known problems with any other extensions which maybe prevent it? another question: Do the keywords have to be just between spaces, ","'s or a paragraph?

Each one goes on its own line. The keywords are case-insensitive, and iirc it ignores whitespace at the start and end (not that you'd be putting it in there :p )

Added your extension to my browser too, thanks. FilterAffinity was great for blocking uploaders and tags, but titles is a filter it lacked.

I swear I've unwatched like 4 or 5 people cause they spam upload "reminders" for pictures that nobody is interested in. I'll check them out and they have zero bids or offers at all. It's literally against the FA rules to spam more then 3 times a day and still people knowingly do it :/

Thank you a lot for mentioning this. Also whoever knows the admins of FA here... Show them this post. There is definitely too much spam. Some YCHs get new reminders every single day and don't even remove the older ones, filling the website with useless junk one doesn't want to see. There need to be more customisable search filters you can keep forever. Like blacklisting tags or artists.

They do have some guidelines which limit the reminder posts. Not sure if they've been updated or not

Yep, 3 reminders per 8 hours and no more than 1 reminder per offer per 8 hours.

Seems like it needs stronger enforcement.

I mean even if they properly enforced that, that still seems like a lot to me.

Will there be one for other browsers too? or just chrome? im quite sick of seeing like 4-5 reminders for auctions and whatnot thats been ongoing for a month and keeps getting reminders everyday even tho noone has shown any interest to the original auction

It's a very simple extension, so I ought to be able to package it for Firefox pretty easily. I'll have a look at that tomorrow.

I’m glad it’s not just me, haha. Increasingly feels like the proportion of stuff posted now is just skewing more and more towards adopts, ychs, or reminders for the previous two. Just buries actual art. Fills up submissions and journals like crazy too, gotten to the point where I’ve had to unwatch otherwise decent artists because in between a good pic is a dozen reminders for various things.

I would say a good third of submissions in my inbox are either ych, patreon or stream reminders and 80% of journals are for the same. It's really annoying with the stream ones; due to my time zone when I get up all those streams are over anyhow so it's just junk submissions I need a clean through. I used to have an addon filter for firefox that worked with FA but it got discontinued many years ago.

like, im all for people doing some advertisement for their work, but at this point theres a lot of people that aren't even using FA as a gallery site anymore theyre just using it as an advert platform and its pissing me off.

I agree, I think FA really should start allowing you to filter what gets into the inbox but then again th design of this website itself is still so old school.

FA needs to enforce the use of the proper categories. There is one for sales, so it should be used. User also should be able to filter out images from that category. It's okay if I have to confirm that every 3 months. Or even better: A whole new tab for that, so you have Gallery, Scraps and Promotions.

I don't get all this "but artists need to...". If a user goes out of their way to hide that stuff, they clearly won't be convinced to spend money when spammed with YCH, auction, commission up, Patreon teaser, Gumroad, BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY.

Sorry, but as things are, the majority of us isn't able to afford more than about 3 people on Patreon. And many times we have to ask ourselves: What do I want? Netflix? Office 365 for 5 users? Dropbox premium? Or high-res art from that artist I like. Because all are $10/mo. Posting more teasers isn't going to change the fact that artists compete with hundreds others, plus all the other monthly subscription from companies, to be like one of five getting money.

Not that I wouldn't love having all these great artists being able to pay their rent with their art.

I'm not even that bothered by stuff like patreon teasers, since those represent actual content. Each one is, at the least, indication that something unique has been created.

The storm of templated reminder spam, on the other hand...

But they're still not "enjoyable" by themselves, they're just pointing to enjoyable art on another site. A different level of ad, if you want. There's also those pictures resized and compressed into oblivion that, even though uncensored, are very low-quality if seen alone.

Thats why I'd love to seperate them, without saying they're wrong or that artist's shouldn't try to earn as much money as they want.

Also, to everyone reading this, please don't get offended by my wording. I know this is a sensitive topic. I'm trying my best to translate my thoughts into English and mean no harm :)
