Need advice about a fursuit maker

General
So I'm not gonna name names but I am having an issue with my suit maker and I am not sure what to do.
Back in September 2018 I commissioned a fursuit a partial of my sona Pastel
I paid the down payment (which was the minimum to start work on the suit) and then over the next year I paid till I had it paid of in October 2019
We were actually shooting for Anthrocon 2019 to meet in person and exchange but due to much going on on both ends that didn't happen
Once I paid off the suit I had asked if it was possible to have the suit done by January and the maker believed it was doable.
unfortunately, they lost pet and moved over that time and understandably so they couldn't work on my suit which I was fine with.
They then told me They would have it done before FWA...
Then Corona came and then they told me it would be done before this years Anthrocon however that didn't happen
But now I'm here 2 years later and my maker has only just now started furring head and has started making the hands
Today they showed me some of the fur they were putting on the suit and it doesn't even look close to the color of my sona and multiple times they had gone off model with my reference
They had mentioned how a lot of stuff on my suit was a challenge for them or a first for them and I know my sona is different but it's starting to get me very frustrated and impatient since this is my 3rd time getting a suit and having problems.
I don't know what to even say about the colors to them because I feel like they have been slogging through making mysuit and I don't know how to address that I want them to pick a different fabric cause the color doesn't match my ref
I paid 1800 for this partial and I just want it to be right
I would like input from my fellow commissioners and commionsies of fursuits I'm just very feed up

You did show enough flexibility in the timeline and in exchange they were flexible with the payment. The troubling part is that they are going through with something that you feel isn’t right. My advice is to be assertive in knowing what they plan to do to make it look like what you expect. Maybe the color issue is something they plan to address with dyes but that is something you need to bring up to flesh out your concerns. I do nudge you to put your foot down respectfully and give them your concerns. It won’t get better with time and you’re better off with the product you want with the maker disgruntled than you wasting your money on something you didn’t want.
