So, let me just vent here cause this has been most frustrating series of events and now was made even worse thanks to mandatory masks and people going "PLAGUE RATS PLAGUE RATS PLAGUE RATS" like you don't realize how friggin terrible you sound.
Ever since Corona started, the main goal has been flattening the curve. It has been flattened now, but people began talking about reducing the cases. That is impossible, because the point of the virus like this is that you will encounter newer cases, and you need to be prepared for it, you CANT get rid of it. At least not anytime soon. The best thing to hope is to get crowd immunity. (Yes there is a fear of reinfections. But these hasn't been proven beyond anecdotal. The testing has been shown to be faulty and some cases are just improper interpretations.)
Funny enough, the situation never really changed that much. Remember how earlier I said you have lower chance of dying to Covid? Same here. Yeah, news talk about new cases all of the time, but that gives them clicks. The death rate has been going down, enough that CDC stopped referring to it as an Epidemic.
Now for the masks, things that are theoretically useful, but aren't really based on professional opinions, but promoted by doctors cause kinda helped with lowering cases. Now, why would people not wear them?
- Job requirements get in the way (Physical works requires lots of breathing, service and communication can muffle words, hazardous workplace like kitchen or welding table)
- Physical conditions (some people reported fainting due to heavy breathing; I tend to take it off frequently cause of how much I feel sleepy)
- Useless (having a beard takes away any use of it)
- Unhygienic (you gotta clean it a lot, so you can't rely on onetime ones; breathing carbon dioxide all the time is unhealthy as fuck)
- Just plain don't want to (principle or otherwise)
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind wearing a mask in public spaces. But if I hear someone call me or someone else a Plague Rat, I have all the right to call them Live Sheep, ready for their masters to decide how should they live and how long they should live. And be happy to be sacrificed for the greater good of making their master's tush feel nicer.
