hey nerds

So, I've given it some thought, and I've come to both the conclusion and realization that in the end I cannot easily, or probably even legally make money off of fanfiction. Especially not fanfiction that is heavily inspired by and draws actual conversations and scenarios from the source material. And for one particular project, while I would love for it to be recognized by the creators of the property, I know that there's a very slim chance of that.
Better to breathe new life into my works, take them and turn them into something original to me. Something that I am still proud of, something that I can still pour years of work and love into, that tells the stories that I wanted to tell using my own words and my own characters.
So, as of right now, I suppose you could saw that I'm here to produce only 100% original content. I know it can be argued that nothing is original anymore, that everything is just a copy of something that was a copy of something else, but that's just the way of it. I'd rather my work be called a "spiritual love letter" rather than just a "blatant rip-off".
What this means is that any of my projects that count as fanfiction will be removed from my FA. This includes:
- Champion's Heart; based heavily on and takes place within the world of Corruption of Champions
- Final Fantasy: Perdita Tenebris Meam; based heavily on and takes place within the world of Final Fantasy 14 spanning from A Realm Reborn to Shadowbringers
- Secure. Contain. Petrify; based heavily on and takes place within the world of SCP Containment Breach
This also means that no more content related to these projects will be produced. I will either be re-purposing the stories and characters and using them in original work, or the project will be lovingly tucked away to be fondly remembered.
Projects that will remain on my FA are:
- Children's Nightmares; a collection of horror stories told in the manner of children's bedtime stories
- Money Love; an adult love story based off of AU interactions between the fursonas of myself and my partner,
waffle_paws
- Of Mythos and Ancient Lore; a collection of Japanese-themed/style myths and fables
- Spooky Fiction; a collection of relatively themeless horror stories that span multiple topics
- The Haunted; a collection of horror stories that include Japanese yokai
- Unseemly Faerie's Tails; a collection of adult-themed fairytales
I will also be re-posting all pictures/'accompart' as their own original and individual things, no longer attached for a project.
All this to say that I am pushing myself to become the author I've always wanted to be, was too afraid to try to be. I'll also be working on other projects in the future, such as visual novels and other such videogames, that will also be based entirely upon original stories. So, if you would like to support me in this new undertaking, or you are one of the few people who have recently asked me about making a Patreon, well...
I'm going to be making a Patreon.
It isn't made yet. I won't be making it until I've cleaned up and reposted things here on FA, as well as really figured out what I want my tier rewards to be. As of right now I am thinking about having only a few tiers:
- a tip jar, for people who don't want to use Ko-fi but would like to give me a buck or two
- General Supporter, which will probably be around five dollars
- Discord Supporter, which will probably be a limited tier that'll specifically be 9.99 (if they let you do cents), which will allow me to afford Discord Nitro that I can then use to create and support a Discord channel
- Monthly Muse, which right now I'm thinking will be 12.99 (again, if they let you) or something similar
- Melpomene, or Erato (I can't decide which is more fitting to my work specifically), which will be like Monthly Muse but better, and probably 20, and
- Splenda Supporter, which will be my highest tier that I'm literally only putting there as a joke but also because someone specifically asked me to and will probably be 45 flat or something
So far, this is all that I can really think of. I could always add more tiers later on, and change the Discord Support tier to something different once I start making enough money to afford Nitro on my own.
As for what I'd be offering for tiers:
- access to my Patreon Feed, of course
- access to my personal Discord (when I am able to make it)
- the ability to vote on a monthly prompt that will result in one short story
- the ability to vote on which chapter of a project I work on next
- being able to ask me to critique or edit your own work
- a monthly Thank You in the form of a colored base with a theme of your choosing
- having a set number (anywhere from 5 to 10, currently unsure how many custom emoji you can give to a Discord server) of emoji that are dedicated to you that are featured in the Discord
- early access to in-progress chapters or completed chapters of my projects
- early looks at any videogame I happen to be working on at the time, be it RPG or visual novel
- an 'Ask My Characters', where you can send in questions for a monthly Q&A where you can ask specific characters from specific projects whatever (respectable) questions you like, and receive in-character responses
- discounts on commissions
As of right now this is all I can think of, but I'll try to think of more to really make these tiers worth it.
So..
