I've never understood the point of this plexiglass stuff everywhere. Yes, it'll block some air or moisture flow, but unless you're completely boxed in it (which noone ever is, they're just behind a small layer of it with a lot of them still exposed), it's effectively putting a band-aid on a gaping wound. At best it's health theater, at worst it's actually making people think they're safe when they're just as susceptible to an air born virus behind it as they are out in the open. And that's completely ignoring how much of a cumbersome annoyance it is for all parties involved, especially in a school setting where space is already tight.

Plus you have additional health risks imposed by the lack of proper air circulation that humans need for optimal LIVING. stick some kids in little plastic boxes (who need more fresh air than adults) and you're asking for a nightmare once normal flu season begins
