Well since people want your art a lot I'd try offering the cheaper ones, I think the amount of people eager to jump on the lower prices would add up for you not doing the more expensive pieces. I guess? x3

The lower pricing would definitely allow more people to get a commission, however it could also bog you down with TONS of them.

I still have the lineart you did for me years back, it might be time for another one regardless

Everyone is poor, go for the middle ground to be economical. $40 is a bargain for your artwork! ($90 is too but I shouldn't tell you that) I'd go for another commission from you in a heartbeat

Well, while the $90 one is totally worth it, it's a bit out of range of a lot of people. The $40 was totally worth it. I'd say that the $40 would be your best option.

It relates to supply and demand.
The lower the price, the greater the quantity demanded. Your total revenue would go up, due to the price of your elastic-demand good going down, making people want to buy more of it :D

I'd suggest some $5 or $10 quick sketches. Something you can kick out in 30-45 minutes per, and clean up in volume. Don't offer inking, colour, or backgrounds... just quick sketches.

with the economy as it is cheaper commissions would let more people get your art.I think its more what you feel like doing though, a few detailed one or several quick ones.

maybe you can start liek other with $10 sketchs, and raising price to inked, colored and fully colored pics in this order to a high regular price

I will pay whatever you want. Of course, if I started doing commissions i'd blow it all on your art cause i'm greedy like that.

I think it's more about managing the demand at a level comfortable to YOU. Are you comfortable with doing lots of quickies? Or do you like to express yourself in detailed pieces?

Also, the higher is the detailed and expensive commissions percentage in your folio, the closer will your 'artist image' be to exclusiveness and elitism, meaning you'll be able to get off with doing less commissions for the same $$$, and choosing which ones you want to do, and which you don't.

It's really up to you, if it were me, I'd offer some of each, maybe 5 cheap and 2 expensive, see how it goes and see what you prefer. I'd be up for one^.^
