Boy Howdy... (Health Update)
What a year it’s been for me on a personal level.
SO, as some folks who know me, I’ve had some health issues for the longest while, first the Ulcerative colitis, then the lovely little complication, Schlerosing Colingitis (which is also an auto immune disease which attracts the bile ducts of my liver)
Which lead to me being in hospital post major operation as i type this...
SO let me tell you a story.
Every now and again i have an attack of sorts that required me to have my bile ducts cleared, embiggened and whatnot, well late last year i thought i had a similar attack, turned out to be a rather nasty gallbladder infection.
Fast forward to march when i had the bloody thing taken out...
Shortly afterwards the fun part started, oh oedema, jaundice, and so on...
I went to one hospital, they pretty much turned me away with a condescending tone, made arrangements with my specialist, but a week after i got worse, went to the other local hospital which just had its ED reopen after thorough cleaning post covid outbreak at that point.
So i get transferred to the other hospital, have my bile ducts cleared yet again (ERCP for the medically inclined), and kept under observation... concerns about my liver (which had taken its fair share of knocks due to the aforementioned) abound, i was still pretty jaundiced and getting worse.
So instead of a phone call with a liver specialist interstate i get -flown- to another hospital for it.
Swollen to all heck and yellow like some minifig homonculus.
Fast forward to June when i had a liver transplant (yes, things escalated that quickly), which is where the real hilarity started. (I was far sicker than i even thought)
For starters? Liver failed in theater, and i needed 80 litres or so of blood product to preserve my butt, i was sedated for a week afterwards until i came down from the steroids they had to pump me full of (i was apparently quite ‘roid ragey), recovery began.
Back to the wards after ICU, that’s when the real fun began. I Still had issues with fluid here a virus, some infection issues and the fluid affected my heart and breathing.
First, the heart... which decided to randomly “gotta go fast” at random intervals... disconcerting never fun, took them a bit to nail down treatment and such, including defib shocks to “reset” everything, meds, tests and so on. Eventually having the fluid drained from my chest cavity to alleviate the issue - which it did to this point, as well as sort out the breathing.
Now onto the other two issues: mobility and kidneys...
The extent of the operation was so much so that my kidneys went dormant for the longest time, they seem to be slowly coming back online so to speak as far as i can tell, as for mobility? Working on exercises and that whole “standing” deal again, my muscles had weakened to that point. Making good progress though.
Now, a current side effect at the moment, (prolly a combo of weakened muscles and meds) my hands shake like the dickens, thus it’ll be a while before i can retrain the fine muscles in my hand and be back on my bullshit.
Liver’s working a treat though.
So that’s what I’ve been up to for the majority of the year, right now it’s mainly down to getting my kidneys back up to full spec and physiotherapy/Rehab. The latter of which may take a bit but again, making decent progress.

In all seriousness its good to hear you are still kicking around, was quite worried for a bit.
Good to see you alive!
Qa’pla!
QA'PLA!
I'm so very very glad you're still with us! You've been missed, and we can't wait to see you back up <3 <3
Glad to hear things are finally on the comeback trail. Just remember, all physios are sadists therefore making you suffer is just as much for their benefit as it is for yours. May it all go well from here on in.
Your mention of blood products is a timely reminder for me to get my arse back into the Blood Bank as I have completed my 5 year suspension (was on an extended medical trial) so I can start donating again.
Here's hoping that you make a full recovery after dealing with all of those surgeries and hospitals.
Glad you're still around and kicking.
Glad to hear of the eventual (and hopefully continuing) Improvement, however.
Beeee healthy!
