"The Longing" game, PC version.

Okay so someone showed me this game and I am actually curious about playing it. The thing is I don't have Steam and don't want Steam. I asked a similar thing of Undertale a few years back so I am wondering if this game has a non Steam required version that exists?
And furthermore would anyone be willing to but it for me in exchange for art or I could buy you a Nintendo eShop card or something, an exchange of goods ya know.
So if anyone knows if this game can be downloaded without Steam please let me know.

Someone gifted me the game but it seems to be forcing me to go through Steam now.
I just don't really want Steam...
Do you know anything about it?
They just give you an installer and you can launch the game no hassle, usually anyway. You might have to jump hurdles to get older PC games running but that shouldn't be the case here.
Once you get the installer or the download link, you just keep those handy and you can reinstall as often as you want on as many devices as you want, there's no restrictions.
You will need to create a Gog.com account, but that's it.
Guess I'll look into that then.
And of course, having an email account to manage all of that.
Anyway, I believe it’s a phenomenal game with a very innovative and experimental concept that works wonders! The world building is amazing, as is the unique soundtrack and overall aesthetic!
