Little Nemo's Winsor McCay gets my vote. How a Mosquito Operates (1912)

Ya gotta love "Classic" Silent animation. It appears to me that Mr. McCay hand drew each page of that short cartoon, or at least did great pencil work and erasing. I had forgotten completely about the "Explosive" ending.

and just as I read this, a mosquito flys past my dumb face to end up between my hands... HA!

I barely remember an old french song from late 70's of someone singing about a mosquito, strewn inbetween was the english like, "why don't you go home?" :P

Justice is served! The landlord bought me a "Mosquito coil", which is a plastic bracelet with mosquito repellant soaked into it, and a citronella oil diffuser pot to hang here in the studio. I'm going to try using that item after Sunset, which is the hour that the little blood suckers like to strike.

when I hear them in bed I switch on the nightlight and then try to find them at the next white surface. at least the european ones seem to tend to sit there, hoping to go by unnoticed. of course, having to adjust to all the light doesn't help me... extra bonus if they have already eaten.

Back in the 80s, some clever chap invented a mosquito killing laser system. It used an array of microphones to aim a low power laser at flying mosquitos. They wouldn't let them put it on the market due to potential eye damage to people who sound like mosquitos.

Hmmmm would zap anything that puts out an incessant whine or droning.... Do not use around politicians, etc...

Sounds like a bonus.

LASERS! (Pew pew pew pew pew!!) Isn't there any problem they can't solve? (Wait... Don't answer that too quickly.) I can't help but recall the final battle scene between the greedy HOA Lady, the Tech Savvy Exterminator, the Bear and a squirrel hyped up on an energy drink in the animated "Over the Hedge." Hammy was so hyper accelerated that he casually watched the laser beams from the illegal trapping system just crawl by.

Just ran into a bunch of mosquitos today, was sweeping up some rose petals from the side porch - bit of a wind trap there. Damn things were hiding in the mess - also took out a huge Black Widow that had taken up residence under a chair. Saw huge messy web and went damn, got Shelob living here

Shelob? Now there is a name I haven't read in a long, long time. Yeah... By strange coincidence, I was cleaning up the old "Toy-Otter" in preparation for a final sale, and discovered the spaces between the doors and the engine compartment was infested with spider nests. I had to spray every egg bag I could find, but knowing the creatures... They're still in there.

Hehe old running gag in the family. I read Hobbit and LoTR and Mom had to read them for a college class. After that any spider in the house was Shelob and Toads in the garden were Gollum. I'd be asked to move Gollum if she was gardening and a toad was sitting where she wanted to plant something.

Be glad you aren't beset by the "Chicquitos" from Da Yoopers! Those would be a REAL threat! *grins*
