Extended Thoughts on: Transformania Time (SP)

...Yeah, a weird title for a weird journal. But I had to write this for several reasons: first, an update on how I'm doing (since I've been avoiding twitter for a few weeks now, and ill with an off-and-on fever, but I'm still working!), but the big reason I'm writing this is... there's been a lot of changes in Transformania Time SP, and a lot more to come in the future. There's three changes in particular I'd like to bring up here.
A few weeks ago, the creator of the game, Judoo, gave me co-authorship of Transformania Time SP over on TFGamesSite. This was incredibly kind of him, and it gave me access to a bunch of stuff on that site that I've used primarily for presentation, changelogs, and general advertising. It's led to a new audience discovering this game, which might mean new writers!
...But none of that really affects you guys over here, right? All that's on another site. Thankfully, the next two changes are... pretty dang big.
This co-authorship must've lit a coding fire under me, cuz I started looking through the code of Transformania Time SP itself. I'd already found out about how I can make paragraph breaks, and my last character used pink text. But I spoke to a programmer friend, and... well, she showed me stuff I never thought was possible. Like, enough that there was a point where I had to step away, cuz my brain couldn't handle so much information all at once.
I can now bold text. Italicize text. Make text a whole bunch of different colours and even fonts. And I can insert any text character I want. That last thing is really big, but I think I'll only use it for two things: non-roman text, such as Hangul and Kanji... and semicolons.
I can now use semicolons in my characters. I don't think I can express how huge this is. I typically use so many goddamn semicolons that I feel writing in a program that forbids them has actually helped my writing as a whole. This is... very big news for me.
And you know what? That's not even the biggest change that's happened over the past month.
Even though I'm now co-author, I can't change the game itself, since it's all on a website I don't have access to. That sadly means I can't upload the characters onto the site... but I know people who can. This means that, if things go as planned, I can release a character here when it's uploaded to the online version of the game.
And THAT means that you'll no longer have to save and upload new characters. You can just go on the game, and pick the new character. Simple as that.
This solves the biggest problem I've had with giving you all characters; I've hated how the first thing that greets you when you click on a new character of mine is a wall of text, something that you then have to save and then upload to the game yourself. Every single time you want to play as them. But not anymore. In fact, if you check the website now... every single character of mine is already in the online version, along with all the characters other people have written.
I feel like I'm at some porn expo revealing a new technology to horny investors, but here is a tl;dr of all the changes:
- There's a new audience for this game, which might mean new writers.
- I've learned how to alter text, giving me new formatting and new characters for my... characters.
- Every new character should be up online as soon as it's released; you no longer have to add them yourself.
...So what does this mean for all of you here, going forward?
There's two things I hope to implement. First, once I know my character can be released online, I'm gonna alter the descriptions of my submissions again and get rid of all the rules you need to follow. I'm wondering if I even need to upload the character file over here at all, since every character submission will just be directing you to the website. I'm still gonna announce and 'submit' characters here, so you know what's new to the game and so you can leave feedback. You might have to be a bit patient while I work those things out, but I'll get it sorted, I promise.
The next thing I wanna do... okay, hear me out. I wanna reformat my old characters with all the new information I now have. I wanna stress that I'm not rewriting these characters. What I'll be doing instead is adding paragraph breaks, fixing the odd typo, adding some colour or deromanizing languages, stuff like that. I don't wanna George Lucas my porn here, and this isn't even like my remastered stories (remember when I wrote normal stories? Those were the days...); this is just gonna be formatting changes. Think of the changes as... a fresher coat of paint. Less Tony Hawk 1+2, and more Super Mario 3D All-Stars Collection (yeah, I went there). I'm not even gonna make a big deal about the reformatting when they're finished; I might add a little note in the character's description that it's reformatted, and that's it.
I want to end this journal by saying thank you. I don't think any of these new changes would have come without everyone reading my characters, liking my work, and overall being super kind. You've already given me so much by being here: I feel the need to return the favour by making my TT characters and stories as well-written and easy to access as possible. With these three changes, I think I'm closer to achieving that, and maybe more.

FA+

I'm personally for you keeping uploading your characters here as usual. Reason because i downloaded the old offline TTsp and have made some edits on the insane difficulty so that i could quickly lose (on purpose) and such.
The online version is fine and has more characters but it's painfully slow to lose on, lol.
Congrats on the co-author.
...I don't think it's actually a word, but it totally should be xD
