Beaten Cancer, but at a cost

Your God has words he has deemed fit to share
So had a big meeting yesterday with my doctor, social worker, OT, parents, and my cousin. The starting point, I have one treatment of chemo left and I'm done. When I first got here they were extremely worried for how bad it was, but after 5 rounds of chemo and radiation, I've beaten it. Now they will be checking in every 6 months and such to make sure I'm still okay, but yeah, it seems like I've won...but at a cost.
The cancer was in my lower spine, and it has done permanent damage to it. I was told yesterday that I will never walk again. My upper body is still very strong, probably the strongest it's ever been, but my legs are shakey and can't support me. I want to try rehab in a physio facility, I don't want to give up, but they seem pretty sure the damage is severe enough that the best I can hope for is being wheelchair mobile....it's been a rough day. To badly quote RWBY, "Everyone talks about getting back to normal, and I appreciate it, but this is normal now, it's just taking me a while to get used to it."

I support your decision if you want to try the rehab. Amazing things have come from people pushing through and refusing to give up. Just know that despite things not going to be easy should you end up using a wheelchair for the remainder of your time with everyone (however long that may be, hopefully long hehe), that you will find ways to do what you need to do. It has never stopped my cousin being in a wheelchair all her life =) It will take some getting used to, but I know you will get through it hehe. *hugs*
I will end with an omg! RWBY quote! You just became more awesome!!! *hugs more* I wish I could channel my inner Jaune and send you my aura to speed and strengthen your healing. I do know at least it wouldn't be necessary, since you are clearly strong and a fighter. I wish you the best of luck as you move forward and learn how to best manage your new normal =) *hugs*
Definitely don't give up and give rehab a shot, as the body can be pretty amazing sometimes.
No matter what happens next, being alive is what's most important and thanks to the internet, you will always have people and friends to be in contact with; not to mention a way to still have a career.
Hang in there and stay strong.
I'm sure things won't be easy, but I have faith in you to find success and happiness.
Here's to hoping that your remission is permanent, and that your recovery is swift. I've seen what chemo can do to a person, and I can only hope that your experience with it is on the milder end.
Stay strong, dude! Sorry to hear about the fallout though... my grandma had a stroke 40+ years ago and struggled to walk on her bum leg for the longest time. With physical therapy in a week she was back up and walking again, so I don't have any doubt that there's hope in modern medicine to help get you back up on your feet in time. ♥
[/color]I am sure you are not going to give it up. I encourage you to go to a phisiotherapy for some time. It aint gonna be quick but it makes the difference between fighting and resigning to what others say. You are strong and brave. It is to me an honor to be able to be aknowledged by you from time to time. A relative of mine shattered her hand's bone. She had to have multiple surgeries and doctors told her she wouldnt be able to use it the same. She had multiple phisioterapies and now she is doing well. She did them on mexico because in the US all doctors would do was put ice on her arm and do simple stuff once a week.
You are awesome, man Never up
But, I love you very much, and for as long as you feel the same about me and don't want to toss me away like so many others have, that won't change. I promise.
