Why I made Heroes of Ryperna's rating General
5 years ago
I am taking a brief break from saving Ryperna from the Darkness to bring you this message:
Simply put, if teenagers can read works with gore and violence in the library, they should be able to do so here as well.
Furthermore, this will dissuade me from the temptation to get explicit in my works, as I do not want to have to agewall any parts of my stories. Only if a chapter is considered too dark will I agewall it, and even then you could make the argument that the darkest day our world has ever had has been taught to kids.
Teens are smart, they can handle this stuff. If this gets me in trouble, let it be known that worse stuff can be found offline: It's no secret that elementary school libraries stock themselves with Harry Potter and the Inheritance Cycle, and both should only be read once you are in intermediate or middle school. And how many parents took their kids to see Infinity War because SPIDER-MAN?
The parent should be the censor of the child, not the computer, and artists should be conscientious about what they display in general. I am, and I stand by that statement. If it weren't for the fact that my mimic bird gore bit is no worse than a flashback from BIONICLE Legends #1: Island of Doom and that far worse can be seen in your average young adult - aka teenager - fantasy/horror novel, I would censor it. But considering only people at least 13 years of age are using this site, I will put this stuff on a rating of General.
