I had no problem with it, but it may scare off some. But not having to deal with paypal bs is what allows them to allow anything as long as it is legal and not censor everything.
> However, we have zero tolerance when it comes to the glorification of sexual violence which includes bestiality, rape, and child exploitation (i.e., sexualized depiction of minors). This is true for illustrated, animated, or any other type of creations. Patreon reserves the right to review and remove accounts that may violate this guideline.
> We also do not allow other fringe sexual fetish creations, such as incest, necrophilia, or fetish creations that is hard to distinguish from non-consensual sex.
Furry is bestiality, anime and chibi are child expluatation, you got the idea. While formally adult content is allowed, it is in practice very much not welcome and it is only a matter of time when it gets banned.
They also don't allow the hypnotism fetish, and I've heard of tentacle porn artists getting slammed on patreon as well because "nonconsentual fetish art". So yeah, tentaporn ain't up patreon's alley either.
And they can also ban you for content OFFSITE even if you don't post it to patreon. Their rules are really over reaching.
I'm not supporting anyone there yet, but I am seeing more and more artists move over to SubscribeStar as Patreon increasingly limits what NSFW content they allow.
They don't offer PayPal, but my impression has long been that PayPal is one of the major forces pushing sites like Patreon away from supporting adult content so that's probably for the best.
Patreon and jack cunty are scum. Don't use it, I'd never give support to anyone who's only option is patreon. Subscribe star all the way. I just wish there was a good alternative to paypal (like subscribestar) because they're just as vile as patreon.
SubscribeStar all the way. Been using it for over a year now and never had any problems. The credit card payment may scare some people off or make it difficult for others, but the sacrifice is worth in the end. Just by not having to deal with Patreon's arbitrary censorship makes it worth it, and SubscribeStar's staff is very good too. I only have good things to say about them.
I've heard iffy things about their payment security on some reddit forums, I can't say for sure, but I generally don't trust things without a secure payment method over just putting your info into the site. But that's just me, cause I've had me and my folks info stolen more than once in the last 4 years.
I have missed the details on the limitated nsfw for Patreon.. where's it?

Either way, Subscribestar is better than Patreon. Patreon is shady and has done some stupid things to artists.
