Social media apps are free (at least the well known ones are). However if there is a few technical glitches, maybe it's a fault on their end or the app has been released with those glitches and needs an update to fix them, of which the site should be notified about such things.

Make sure your phone is decently up to date. Yoou should probably get a new smartphone every 5 years. After about 3-5 years, your phone will start showing its age, ESPECIALLY if you're not keeping your phone files cleaned, organized and exported onto your main compuuter.

And I don't uuse Instagram, but that's free. There might be some purchasing options, but the main features are free. Apps are required to say that they contain in-app purchases if that is an option. Most in-app purchases are the option to buy an ad free version of the app.

Really, I recommend Androids for being cheaper and more customizable. I got a pretty good phone for $150 on Amazon. And it can be organized just like a USB flashdrive! Easy.
Apple phones tend to be less customizable, harder to file manage (gotta uuse iTunes
... OR A THIRD PARTY program, like EaseUS MobiMover)
and more expensive, all just so yoou can feel fancy.

Ok, research says that your iOS is the latest, so it's probably the apps fault.

The iPhone 7 was free with my phone plan. But, I seem to have fixed my dumb Instagram problem. I logged out and logged back in and it seems to be back to how it was. 🐸🎈💥

I would said "included" not free !
In some country they have "bare subscription" and you can easily see how much the phone cost for real when "free". with a monthly fee of 15€ for unlimited voice and 80Go, everything you pay over is to pay the phone
