Ah, that's understandable of course. Must admit, I have been in the same spot as you. We used to own a female toy poodle called Susi who developed Dog cancer in her old age. We were treating her as best as possible and tried to make her feel comfy even though the health conditions slowly affecting her sensibility and the sorts.
You cannot blame yourself for it, Decus. I'm sure your Dog still feels happy to be with you. Even if our pet companions might not have the same lifespan as we do, they still will always have that great affection and positive imprint as well as create long lasting memories with us.
